I've worked at the U since 1983; two years ago I gave up my second car
and began riding the bus and bicycling from Brickyard Rd. I had not
even ridden a bike since the 1970's, and I'm currently 60, so it was a
major change for me. The worst part of my commute, whether bike or
public trans, is getting through campus. Research Park is poorly
served by shuttles, is impossible for a pedestrian and the few bike
lanes often have significant auto traffic; I simply wind through the
parking lots and carry or walk my bike over grass berms.
I worked at HSC for many years and agree it is even less accessible by
anything human powered. We study the effects of obesity here at CVG,
and the U would better serve the community by encouraging walking and
bicycling.
Please let me know how I can help support your efforts.
