Why do the proposed bike routes only include a small part of North
Medical Drive? This road, because of its steepness, curviness, and
speeding drivers, is probably the most dangerous road on campus to
bikers. It also has no sidewalk. It's just a matter of time before
someone dies there, so maybe it's time to make it safer for bikers and
pedestrians.

Eric.
What would you like to see on north campus dr. road? I would be very happy to get some ideas from you and include them in this plan. This road has been difficult for every one to try and come to some conclusion on, if you look at some of the barriors a class two becomes very difficult to put in with the width restrictions on this road and a class 3 just isn't enough, my idea has been to create a "bikes only path" from the top of presedent's circle to Wasatch Dr. I would love to hear from someone with a fresh perspective.
thanks
Jake

Jake, Wasatch Dr. is not high enough. There is no good way to get to
the hospital from lower campus, especially on the north end of campus.
I always find myself weaving and winding to avoid scary roads like
North Campus Dr. or Wasatch up to the College of Nursing.

Thanks for your quick response, Jake. I've been looking at N. Campus
Drive recently trying to come up with ideas. A "bikes only" path
might do the trick, but what about a shared use path that runs
parallel to the road? The land on the south and west of the road is
both steep and probably private, but I'm assuming that the U owns the
land to the north and east of N. Campus Dr. If that is the case, then
maybe you could lay down an asphalt-paved path that both bikers and
walkers could use. The golf course might object, but from what I've
been hearing, its days are numbered anyway. This type of path would
then logically connect to the short section of sidewalk that they
recently put in on the far western end of Wasatch Dr. (another road
that is death to both bikers and people trying to walk, as it has no
sidewalk either, but we can save that discussion for later)
