Here's what you can do.
From your location you can use a Telnet program to login directly to your
account on darkwing. I believe your account is
eram...@darkwing.uoregon.edu. So, when use telnet open a session to:
Login using the username eramirez and your current password. If you do not
know your password you will need to speak with Connie French at
541-346-1738 to see if she can help you out.
Once you are logged in on darkwing you can use the Pine email program to
read, delete, forward, etc. your current email on darkwing. At the
darkwing UNIX prompt (the prompt is a "%" symbol) type in:
pine
Once the Pine email program has opened hit enter a few times until you see
list of your messages. The pine email program includes a list of keyboard
commands and menus right on the screen to help you read your messages,
delete them, forward them, etc. If you need explicit help using pine feel
free to send email to con...@darkwing.uoregon.edu and they can answer any
Pine questions you may have.
Now, once you have read your current email, forwarded whatever you want to
keep, etc. you can set a forward on your account so that all future email
going to your darkwing account gets forwarded to your current email address
automatically. Note, the messages won't even appear on your darkwing
account, they'll just end up at your current address -
ERAM...@ACCDVM.ACCD.EDU -
To do this do the following:
* Once you have logged in on darkwing and you see the "%" prompt type this
command and hit ENTER:
echo ERAM...@ACCDVM.ACCD.EDU > .forward
This will create a file on your darkwing account named ".forward" - The
file will contain the single line with your new email address. This tells
the darkwing operating system that you want all email to automatically go
to this address.
