I've got the dial up networking through uonet established but am not
sure how to access my U of O e-mail account after I am connected to the
server. I am using Netscape Navigator 3.0. Can you help me?

Hello,

You have two ( the most common ) easy options whereby you can access your
email at UO.

1) You can choose to access your email using "pine". This is a unix based
email client. All you nend to do is

On a MAC - run NCSA TELNET, open a connection to
gladstone.uoregon.edu or darkwing.uoregon.edu or oregon.uoregon.edu
depending on where you have email. Then log in, type pine at the $
prompt and you're set to go.

On a PC - click on START->RUN->type in telnet
gladstone.uoregon.edu and log in. Type pine and you are set.

2) In Netscape, select options and mail and news preferences. Enter your
POP information as your complete email address at the UO.

For SMTP enter gladstone.uoregon.edu or the host you are using as
appropriate. Then click on the envelope symbol in Netscape and you should
be prompted to receive mail.

Try it out and write back if you get stuck.

Sincerely,

Karl Kurien at MCS / Geology
