It is my pleasure to debut a research project by Jalal Al-Din Abd Al-Rahman and Dr. Michelli (curator of the trust, located in Germany), researching the ancient artifacts from foundries of Ireland to Iran to China, from Vikings to Khorasan's Sufi artisans:
http://jalal.devzing.com/ (I need to obtain permission to upload the photos of the artifacts INSHALLAH soon)
The project takes its context from the extensive trading that linked the cultures between northern Europe and China via archaeological trading routes, passing through the Islamic world on the way. It starts from an examination of a large body of archaeological material to establish its technological processes, design methods and concepts, referring to primary textual sources where available. By this means it will follow these aspects as they pass from one culture to another and come together to have a formative impact on the then emerging Islamic arts. It is an exciting and important project that will bring together and establish new standards for a wide range of specialist fields and will change the way we look at historic art and the way we understand the connections between all our cultures.
For those of you interested to inquire more about the objects and their history and possible exhibitions please email Dr. Michelli directly:
Disclaimer: Dara in no way is involved with the purchase or sales of any kind or any other financial transactions related to this priceless and unique collection.
Note: Some of the research in uwl has been used in VIEW blog.
