Ifyou are one of those people that never identified with your sun sign, learning your moon sign and rising sign can help it make a lot more sense and feel a lot less general. Before I became really interested in Astrology, I found many of the horoscopes related to my sun sign to be quite general, but when you dive into your birth chart and look at your other signs, it feels much more personal and accurate in describing your personality.
This zodiac sign describes your core self, your strongest personality traits, and your natural gifts and abilities. This is the strongest sign, and the reason why it is the most commonly talked about zodiac sign. Exploring your sun sign can really help you understand your sense of self and identify some key factors in your unique personality.
The below images from the Bedside Astrologer will give you a rough estimate of where the moon was in relation to your birth date and year, but for the most accurate reading, identify the exact time of birth and use a moon sign calculator that allows you to enter your birth time. This will help you pinpoint your exact moon sign.
Or, if you do not know your time of birth and were born in between 1988-2004, reference the images below and identify your moon sign. For example, if your birthday is February 18, 1994 you would go to that year, then go to the February column and see that your moon sign is Gemini.
Your rising sign (also called the Ascendant sign) indicates your outer personality or outerself. This is primarily how you present yourself or appear to others. It is also indicative of your skills and the techniques you use to get what you need. We often embody the traits of our rising sign as we go about our daily lives and the way we like to live in our home environment.
In order to calculate your rising sign, you need your birth date, month as well as the time you were born. Similar to the moon sign, the rising sign changes every 2 hours, meaning several people born on the same exact date can each have a different rising sign, depending on the exact time of their birth. To help, check out this Rising Sign Calculator.
Here I have included the rising sign charts included in the book called The Bedside Astrologer by Cosmopolitan. For example, if your birthday was January 16 and you were born at 3:04 pm, you would go to the January row, second column and at 3:04 your rising sign would be Gemini rising. If your birthday was June 4 and you were born at 7:15 am, your rising sign would be a Cancer rising.
Depending on the country you were born in, it is possible your time of birth is listed on your birth certificate. If you were born in a Western European country such as Australia, Canada, Ireland, or India, this is not something commonly listed on birth certificates. In the United States, time of birth is always listed on long-form birth certificate forms and can be acquired from the hospital you were born in. If you were born in a country where time of birth is not listed, ask your parents! They may remember your time of birth.
So there you have it! I hope that was interesting to you and again, astrology goes way more in depth than this and there can be many other elements to your birth chart that are more complicated to understand. Its still fun to look up your signs and see how relatable you find them! If anyone was curious, I am a Virgo sun, Taurus moon, Scorpio rising!

You are correct; you are a cancer moon. You take the same sign as the day behind you. The rising is UP to *something. For instance, March 14 is before 15 so you use the first chart and you are midnight exactly and before 1:25am so your rising is a Sagittarius. Interestingly enough, you and I have similar sun and rising and is why I responded :).
I am Pisces sun, Capricorn moon, Sagittarius rising.

Calculate your rising sign with this rising sign calculator. The rising sign is also known as the ascendant. An exact birth time is required. Even a few minutes of difference in your birth time can change your rising sign.
Your moon sign represents who you are on a deeper level than your sun sign. The best way to explain it is that your moon sign is the unspoken part of your soul. It represents your instincts, what you really need to be comfortable, and how you operate on a subconscious level.
The fact that your rising sign is determined by where you were born is pretty fascinating stuff. If you were born in Alexandria, Virginia or Orlando, Florida, that has a direct impact on the character traits you possess. Crazy, right?
In this article, you will learn what is a moon sign, how to find your moon sign, the difference between your moon sign and your ascendant, what your moon sign says about your personality and which moon signs go well together.
The zodiac sign most accurately reflected in our horoscope is the sun sign. According to astrology, the sun sign deals with our identity, the ascendant describes how we affect the world around us and the moon sign reveals more about our emotional world and subconscious. The moon sign indicates which constellation the moon was in at the time of your birth. Here you can find out what your moon sign means, how to calculate your moon sign and what it says about your personality.
Within astrology, the sun sign, our ascendant and the moon sign are to be understood as a trinity. They give us information about different aspects of our personality and complement each other. In most cases, our moon sign will be different from our sun sign and the ascendant, because every person has a complex personality and many facets. Sometimes, however, the three zodiac signs are the same. These people are often at peace with themselves, but this does not mean that they have a one-sided personality.
The moon sign illuminates the facets of our personality that are not immediately recognisable and tend to take place in the subconscious. The moon sign also reveals our needs when it comes to love and relationships as well as fears and dreams. The emotional world plays a greater role with the moon sign and our emotions that are not immediately recognisable on the surface. The moon also stands for intuition and reaction: the decisions made outside our rational mind. Our moon sign often indicates the one major challenge we will face in our lives. As with all zodiac signs, there are both positive and negative aspects to the moon sign.
The moon sign is calculated by determining the zodiac sign in which the moon was at the exact time of birth. It can be described as the opposite of the ascendant because instead of looking at the external image, the moon sign looks inwards. It is about our emotional side; not about an image that we project, but about our emotional world, which we cannot influence, and the personality that not many people get to see.
To calculate the moon sign, you need to know the exact time and place of birth, similar to calculating the ascendant. This allows you to calculate which zodiac sign the moon was in at the time of birth. The best way to do this is to use a lunar calendar, which you can easily find online. Some platforms also offer an integrated calculator to easily determine the moon sign, such as mondkalender-online.
You can easily find out your birth time by asking your parents for your birth certificate or by calling the registry office at your place of birth. If you only know your approximate birth time, you can try out a few and see which of the signs suits you best below.
The moon sign is the opposite of the ascendant. The ascendant is concerned with how a person affects their environment, what abilities they bring to the table and how we interact with other people. The moon sign, on the other hand, is directed inwards and shows us our subconscious and the personality that is not immediately apparent.
The moon sign Taurus is faithful, loyal and likes to offer and receive security. Taurus is not spontaneous, but rather a great planner who likes to think things through in order to achieve the perfect result in the end. They can sometimes be quite materialistic. People with the moon sign Taurus are stubborn and when they are angry, they are really angry.
The moon sign Gemini loves company and enjoys entertaining a whole room full of people. Geminis are funny, but also smart and like to exchange ideas. Education is important to them, but they are sometimes unsure what the right path is or how best to get an education. The reason for this is that decisions are sometimes quite difficult for them.
