I'm sure we all voted in the Texas Primary last month but we're not
done. Texas has run offs and there is one statewide office that is
having a run off.
The office of Railroad commissioner has nothing to do with railroads.
It deals with Oil and Natural Gas. The incumbent is Republican Michael
Williams.
This year, the Democrats have had 3 candidates, San Antonio City
Councilman Art Hall, 2006 candidate Dale Henry, and activist Mark
Thompson.
Art Hall was eliminated in March, but because no other candidate
received 50+1% there is a statewide run off between Mr. Henry and Mr
Thompson.
Dale Henry's Website can be found here: http://electdalehenry.com/
Dale Henry has more than four decades of hands-on experience in the
oil and gas industry.
Dale holds a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of
Texas at Austin and has worked for decades in research and development
for major U.S. drilling and oil field service companies. Dale also
worked as a private contractor for the Texas Railroad Commission
engaged in plugging and filling abandoned wells–the first line of
environmental defense in the Railroad Commission’s arsenal of consumer
protection measures.
Mark Thompson's Website can be found here: http://www.markfortexas.com/
Mark Thompson is a Disabilities Right Advocate and Therapist for Blind
children and adults for the last 15 years and has also served as a
Police Officer in the Austin area for 8 years. He has a B.S. in
Rehabilitation from Stephen F. Austin State University with advance
training in Orientation and Mobility for the Blind.
Thompson last voted in 1996 in the Republican Primary, take that as
you will.
Remember to vote.
