IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TUESDAY!

As a forewarning, the UNT College Democrats will be walking to our precinct convention location as a group Tuesday at 6:00 from the Environmental Science Building at the conclusion of our meeting. It is 1 mile. Some will be driving for those who can not walk that far.

We know that several of have questions about what will be going on Tuesday at the Precinct Conventions.  The purpose of this e-mail is to give you a better idea of what to expect and some helpful information.  Just to remind you the precinct conventions are scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.  They cannot start until everyone has voted at the polling location, so there is a good chance that they will be delayed.  Also, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE POLLING LOCATION UNITL AFTER EVERYONE HAS VOTED.  We will have people outside to make sure that no one gets in until the Election Judge has indicated that it is ok to do so.  To find out more information about the actual process of a precinct convention, please click on these links http://www.txdemocrats.org/index.php/282?
http://www.knowledgemessenger.com/b/KMTasks/view.aspx?app=elpasocountydems&id=62.  We due want to stress the fact that at the precinct convention, all you will be doing is electing delegates to the Denton County Democratic Convention.  It will be based on Presidential preference, so you will be giving your candidate some additional support.  However, delegates to the national convention will not be decided until the state convention in June.
Parking may be a problem at your precinct convention location.  We are asking everyone to carpool if possible. Some of the precinct conventions may have to happen in the parking lot.  You may want to bring a clipboard or flashlight just to be safe.   For those of you that this applies to, your employer must let you off work to attend the precinct convention (http://www.burntorangereport.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=5154).
We ask that you bear with us on Tuesday.  It's been 30 or 40 years since people have had this much interest in the precinct conventions, we're a little out of practice.  We hope that everyone enjoys the precinct convention and the experience of being part of the democratic process.  If you have any questions, please contact us at 940-566-1165 or at ma...@dentondemocrats.org.

Sincerely,
Jace Reeder
