I tried to repair my smartphone with PC Companion and the update failed like expected. Happens nearly every time with sony smartphone. Now i'm not able to start my device and can't attempt an other repair cuz it's saying that the device is locked. But i cannot unlock it, cuz it won't start. Can i throw the smartphone in the trash? Or is there any way to fix it?Great how adding pictures works here! *facepalm*

I'm sorry to hear that, does the phone charge at all? if it does then let it charge for 1-2 hours, make sure to use a wall charger not a computer > then do not try to turn it on, open Xperia Companion > follow the repair steps and see if that does it

The phone was/is fully charged. But i have no access to the phone, it's saying "Its' locked!" I needed to click on "allow data transfer" on my phone to connect it with companion. But now i'm not able to do that, because it's not starting due to the failed repair.

if you repaired the phone with Xperia Companion, all your data its gone, if you only updated through Xperia Companion the data should be there, BUT, since it wasn't installed properly you will have to repeat the update/repair process, just keep the phone off and follow the steps

WINE support seems limited and running it on this end seems incredibly glitchy, but if it's only for the storage purpose then you can change the settings on your phone to USB Storage mode if you want to get into the contents on your device.

Might be redundant, for sync and backup of phone contacts, calendar etcetera simply get a Google+ account and all these matters are solved. Works perfectly calendar functions simple aswell as more hardcore fex mailing a meeting to other participants that use Google+ and have Android phones, the reciepent answer and tells if they are taking part of it or not, if yes the booking appears in ther phone aswell :-)

For filebackup simply connect your Android smartphone (fex Experia S) via USB cable and all files appear in Ubuntu as a portable USB disc, just drag and drop.....or, connect your Sony Xperia S to a USB portable disc using OTG (On the go) USB cable and move all files to that memory or harddrive :-) really simple.... Go Sony...

hi guys i tried to repair the software of my xperia c2305 using companion but an error pop out "model not supported this device is no longer supported by software repair", but before it was stuck in sony logo and the error is software repair error. can you please help me

Hey , got the same problem here. I`ve read many articles on forums and looks like you can try reinstalling the firmware using flashtool. But I still haven`t tried it yet.. Hope there is another solution to the problem.

I have a Xperia m2 dual and recently I have faced the boot screen loop problem for that I am trying to repair my software using Xperia companion but after selecting software repair it gets stuck at initializing screen I have been waiting for more than an hour to process get started but this is not working also my internet speed is 1mbps which is stable connection ...pls help
I have searched other threads on Sony forums as well also I have searched for youtube videos but no progress is seen so far

I recommend that you make sure that your firewall or anti-virus software isn't blocking Xperia Companion from accessing the internet. If you disable your firewall and/or anti-virus I also recommend that you reboot your PC before attempting the software repair again.

My xperia xa has started to lag really bad. If I restart it it's fine for a while then it will lag again. I did a factory reset and it's still the same. Just installed PC companion but when it gets to the stage where you hold down the volume down and reconnect USB it doesn't go on to the next stage. I've held it for 2 minutes and nothing?

Just to make sure: if you are using PC Companion, just uninstall it as it's was discontinued long time ago. You can only use Xperia Companion for repairing your phone. Other troubleshooting steps can include using a different USB cable, connecting to a different USB port, and ensuring that your internet connection is fast and reliable.

I am using Xperia companion, tried reinstalling it on my PC, tried new USB lead and Internet is fine. The phone lights green when I connect USB then after 30 seconds turns red then back to green. Held it for 2 minutes and the software doesn't go to the next step (flash mode) the phone is getting unusable due to freezing. I've uninstalled all apps and removed memory card

I've been searching online for a solution to the problem, I tried to flash the device using flashtool, tried using Sony companion, tried using the ADB command prompts... all failures. Even when I keep the device shutdown, after the flashtool requests that I plug it into my PC and that I keep holding the Volume-down button, the green light appears and the device freezes again, and after about 20 seconds, my PC gives me a "the connected USB device malfunctioned, and it's unrecognized by Windows" message. The same happens when I try using Sony companion.

Up till now, I haven't found any clue that could help me, I've tried the mentioned software, made several hard-reset attempts, tried every button combination and method I could find online, but still with no use.

A while ago I had a similar situation with an Xperia Z, what worked for me was to use a different computer, I've seen other users that by using a different USB cable and port did the trick while using Xperia Companion.

Actually, nothing happened at all... I was watching YouTube just before going to sleep and sat the alarm, at morning, I woke up by myself, and when I turned to the phone to check the hour, I found it frozen with a black screen...

Although, now that you have mentioned it, I had been downloading stuff online and I left them to continue downloading before going to sleep, despite running low on empty space in the internal storage of the device.

Could it be that the internal space was 100% filled, consequently causing the device to freeze for having no more free room to cache data on launch... but even though, I though that performing a hard reset for the device solves this problem.

I tried rebooting the phone using the combination you mentioned before several times, tried various combinations from different websites, and tried -as you suggested- using different USB cords and ports. I switched to another laptop and used all its USB ports using 3 different USB cords for the Sony companion app. Nothing has worked so far, and I'm starting to lose faith...

the same thing always occurs, the phone freezes instantly after launching, and the only thing that is doable at this point is to press the power button along with the volume-up button until the 3 vibrations happen.

I then went to Xperia companion and chose to software repair my phone to see if this would fix the issue. While doing this this morning, the companion threw up an error EU_2005 and when i try to restart my phone it just goes iunto boot loops. I think this may have something to do with flashing as when i try to connect my phone to the laptop, it does not recognise it now.

Hi @DavidCullen, so sorry to hear that.

My recommendation would be to try performing the software repair using Xperia Companion again, as it seems software related since the previous repair rendered an error. Could you start anew by first uninstalling Xperia Companion, download and install it again and then try performing the repair? The device needs to be turned off for this, so first force a shutdown by pressing and holding the power- and volume up button simultaneously until it vibrates 3 times.

I found another forum user which managed to resolve this by performing similar steps, here's his post:

Also, try removing any SIM- and SD cards prior to repairing again.

Let me know how it went!

Happy to hear that you managed to get it running!

Feel free to find an appropriate thread (or create a new one if there's no relevant) for the other behaviour and we can have a look at it too!

I have Sony Xperia L (C2104) and I want to connect it to Eclipse (Juno) for testing and debugging Android Apps. I have installed the Sony's PC companion software. I have turned on the USB Debugging via 'Developer Options' and the USB Connection Mode is MTP.

When I plug my device to Laptop, running Windows 8, the notification bar shows 'USB Debugging Connected' and 'Internal Storage & SD Card Connected'. However, when I start Eclipse, It does not show my device in 'Android Device Chooser' window..
