When using WoodWop 6 and newer, when a a component exists that is multi-layered deep, WoodWop slows to a crawl. When opening task manager, it shows just one core, being pushed to the limit. For example, we have a "KnifeEdge" component, that puts a bevel on the board. There are 6 different types of KnifeEdge and we have a multi layered component set up for ease of use. Enter the type of edge in the variable field, and WoodWop will use said parameters to pick up the appropriate tool and perform the routine.

That being explained, does anyone know of a way to enable multi core support for WoodWop? Or have any idea as to why this is happening? I feel as if it is the amount of information being processed and the 3D graphics incorporated into 6.0 and above. We have several machines with 5.0 that have zero issue with these components, just our 6.0 and our most recent one that has 7.0 on it.

I recently got a PC upgrade that took me from 5 to 7.1 (woodwop) and have experienced a log of lag and software hangs like you describe but in different situations. I think the addition of the 3D interface is the culprit not because it takes more computing power, but because it's poorly optimized for newer PC's.

IF you can do it, turn off the .mprX features and run just .mpr files in 'compatibility' mode for the older versions. I find that any of my old programs from 5 load, edit, and compile MUCH faster than the new 6.1 and on programs that use the mprx file extension (and capabilities).

We have zero problems, even with the same program, in woodwop 5. 3 out of our 6 machines run woodwop 5 and can open, close, and make changes to programs with no problems. Woodwop 6.1 is on 2 of our machines, and 7 on our newest. the lag is far worse on 7 than it is 6.

I strongly feel that Woodwop is only using a single core to make its calculations and process information, on top of the 3d render. We have multi core processors in the newer machines, and they all struggle, the newest has an i5-6400, and it struggles the most.

you can be sure that we are to happy about this situation. And yes you are right: At the moment woodWOP is not working on 64 Bit and therefor it is not able to calculate on several cores.
But we now this and we are working on that issue.

Will any future improvements be offered in any way as compensation for those of us that made the mistake of upgrading? My woodwop 5 software (including all associated software that runs the machine) ran circles around my upgrade to 7.1 and I'd give up the additional features of 7.1 in a heartbeat to go back to the speed of my machine that was based on 5. Even turning the laser projection on and off cripples it like never before.

It also appears to not be aging well. The longer I've had it (since November of 2017) it seems to slow more and more each month. Perhaps a software bug that needs to be squashed causing memory leaks or excessive hard drive access?

Just honing in on some of these post problems im having. All of our files from 360 posted will not run on our vantech 480. We receive an error in the contour definition list. When opening the files in woodwop6.0 we find the following errors in almost every file.

Please let me know what you need from me to troubleshoot this issue or if we can purchase a dedicated POST out put from you guys for our exact machine that would also allow the use of our drilling head as well.

There is an issue with the latest version of the woodWOP post processor when there are multiple points on a straight line move followed by a circular move. We have updated the post and it will be released shortly. You can make the following change to the current post to resolve this issue.

By duplicate lines do you mean that the same XYZ position is output twice? If so, then this can be handled in the post processor. Do you have sample output that shows this issue? If so can you provide it and the model you are working with and I can take a look at the post. You can PM me with your e-mail address if you'd prefer not to provide the model in a public forum.

Hello @lionellU7XD2, can you provide the .mpr file that is generating this error and if the control states which line is generating the error, this would be useful also. The model would be nice if you are able to provide it.

I have a friend that just picked up a new Weeke Vantech 510 router. I was wondering if someone with a weeke/homag post could just post out some code so I can try to wrap my head around it. I am pretty familiar with G-code,Heidenhain,Mazatrol,Mapps,Macro B, User Task, but this .MPR code is just outta this world. Who knows if this topic will ever get any attention, seeing as how I could only find a few posts with the search. Anyway, Thanks in Advance. I'll see if my vAr can find something too.

In my devlopment you can use also the universal makro or ply file from woodwop programming software or all woodwop makros like milling sawing and so! We cant compare the woodwop code with a Iso standart code ! Its to different ! The best way to compare the iso code is when you use the universal makro, but than you dont see the ways in woodwop backplot only the startpoint!

is anyone aware of software LIKE woodwop (ease of use, no cad files to import) for programming NON homag or weeke machines? homag is working on a generic g-code post for woodwop 7.x but it's not done yet.i don't know autocad or smartcam at all but i can do anything (and fast) in woodwop. i am looking for a machine generic woodwop should anything like it exist.3/13/18 #2: software similar to woodwop for non ...

If you're fast in woodwop, you might just consider taking a week or two to learn another software suite. Woodwop is not easy to be effective with in my opinion (I only use it when I can't get my cabinet software to do it easily), so if you're good at that you'll be on fire with a real cad/cam application.3/13/18 #3: software similar to woodwop for non ...

my love of woodwop is due to the ability to do massive variable sets that turn one program into anything i need.i just don't see that ability in smartcam (our 'official' programmers use smartcam) but none of them can do what i do in woodwop without programming every option on its own.can smartcam (or alphacam) do parametric programming as easily?3/13/18 #4: software similar to woodwop for non ...

Can't say about Smartcam, but Alphacam does support parametric programming in the Advanced and Ultimate versions. I don't know much about it, but youtube has several videos. Search for Alphacam parametric sketcher.3/13/18 #5: software similar to woodwop for non ...

I already have woodwop 5 and 7 but my company is getting a massive (24' bed!!!) new Anderson that promised us woodwop 7 with a working post and Homag is up to a year out on that software. Looking for either a temporary alternative or complete replacement that isn't smartcam and can handle parametric values with ease.3/14/18 #7: software similar to woodwop for non ...

Steve,Please give us a contact since I believe we have a solution for you guys. Especially when it comes to parametric values, taking the WoodWop files and generating NC Code for the Fanuc Controller (Anderson Machine).

Hi there, new to the site. I've just started at a company that has a Weeke Venture 3M with Woodwop 5. When I go to import my dxf files it crashes with an bpp5.exe error. My research led me to believe this is a license problem. Can Woodwop be licensed without the DXF optionas a cheaper option or has the license been lost from a reinstallation? I think a young lad in the office isnt aware of licenses and gets by drawing simple componenets directly in to Woodwop. I dont he would have followed the correct procedure and they cant use this feature until its rectified. Not having this option is limiting me massively to what I can acheive and produce if I can import my own drawings. Thank you for an recommendations.

Good morning all, I need help with the order my programs come from bbp5 pro to woodwop to make one process start before another. I've tried switching the order of the layers in cad, I've tried switching the order in bbp5 and I've tried adding PRIO numbers in the result line in bbp5 and nothing changes. What am I missing?

I have been after the exact same post processor.... I was working with a few different people at Autodesk BUT I haven't heard anything back in a few weeks and now I cant get anyone to return my emails. So are you able to get good machine code to your weeke by going back thru autocad and dxf importing into woodwop????

Thanks for the post. I am able to get the code out and loaded and running on my Weeke BHC550 with it,but i can only get a preview of the program if i try to open it in woodwop. I get an error of (file has invalid format) This isnt so bad the only reason to open it in woowop is to edit it sometimes. Fusion did a wonderful job creating code for a curved handrail im working on.
