Good morning,

 

Thank you to all of you who could join us in-person or virtually for last night’s meeting for the Miracle Mile. And, thank you to the University of the Pacific for graciously hosting us on campus. A lot of great comments, questions, and ideas were discussed! All of those ideas, the meeting minutes and the video recording will be available on the Caltrans Miracle Mile website next week.

 

As mentioned during the meeting, we are seeking additional community member to help the Ad Hoc Workgroup review all the ideas generated and determine what is feasible and should be researched further. We invite you to continue to shape the future of the Mile by volunteering to serve on a subcommittee.

 

• Business Development - This subcommittee focuses on ideas that are related to enhancing the facades of businesses (to upgrade and to support placemaking), creating incentives and programs to support individual businesses, overall business growth, and diversification to drive a more robust business center.
• Civil Improvements - This subcommittee oversees ideas that are related to traffic calming and street improvements, crosswalks, sidewalks, and parking.
• Community Engagement - This subcommittee is dedicated to ensuring all who are invested in the Miracle Mile are involved in the decision process – before, during and after the Miracle Mile revitalization project.
• Mobility - This subcommittee focuses on ideas specific to bicyclists, pedestrians, transit, and other modes of transportation to and from the Miracle Mile.
• Place-making - This subcommittee oversees ideas that create opportunities for people to gather (e.g., plazas and events), landscaping (LLMs), signage, and maintaining the historical style of the Miracle Mile.
• Security & Lighting - This subcommittee oversees ideas related to means and methods to monitor the Miracle Mile, and lighting throughout the district.
