Thesandbox survival game Stranded Deep is rife with beautiful, dangerous islands to explore. With an active modding community and hundreds of options available to gamers, many Stranded Deep fans want to know what the best mods are, and how they can install them into their game.

Many games have a wide variety of mods to choose from, like groundbreaking Skyrim gameplay mods that are just a small handful available to fans of the 10-year-old title. Conversely, an overwhelming proportion of Stranded Deep mods are for new maps, as players look for areas to explore. Here are the best mods, presented in no particular order, along with instructions for getting them installed.

Updated April 27, 2022 by Ritwik Mitra: Stranded Deep is a pretty engaging game that any fan of the survival genre should check out. There was a time when the very release of this game was in doubt when its publisher, Telltale Games, shut down.

However, Stranded Deep found a footing of its own soon enough and was finally released to great fanfare. Here are some great mods made by the community that can enhance one's enjoyment of this title even more!

Though it may be a different game, players should familiarize themselves with the biggest mistakes gamers make when modding Fallout 4, as most of these tips apply to adding mods to any game. Once players are comfortable and have found a map they like, they must install the mod into Stranded Deep in order to access it. Steam provides the easiest route, as players can simply navigate to the Workshop in the Community Hub and click on the plus symbol (+) beside the maps in order to add them to the game.

There are several custom maps made for Stranded Deep that can spice up the gameplay experience quite a bit. The vast majority of these map mods are made by Skirow, one of the most popular modders in this game's community.

This modder has made several maps for the game, with Kawailoa being one of the many great mods he has made for Stranded Deep. It's a pretty clever map, with the cavern in the middle serving as a great hub while players explore this isolated island and try to survive.

Of course, players need to be on top of their game and survive through any means necessary. It's imperative for them to survive in such a harsh landscape where a single misstep could prove to be costly.

Resources are aplenty and players can even experiment to understand how the game works here. All in all, Fisherman's Horizon is a fun map to explore when players don't want their game of Stranded Deep to feel too stressful.

Just like Fisherman's Horizon, Tora-Tora is another great map where players can breeze through the game with ease. The abundance of resources and safe spots means that players can enjoy the mechanics of Stranded Deep without feeling trapped.

It's a great island that is perfect for people new to the game to check out. It provides enough items to the player for them to easily mess around with the crafting system and figure out what all is possible from the get-go.

The map isn't the hardest area to survive in, but players still need to be wary and take care of themselves at all times. Survival is worth it for players to explore a fortress that is teeming with rich secrets and goodies to find.

There is also said to be a cave hidden somewhere on the massive island which contains special loot for anyone with the patience to seek it out. With an abundance of loot and buildable land available, it's advisable for Stranded Deep players to learn how to get container walls before traveling to this lush island.

On the Nexus page for this mod, players can choose to download one, or both files in order to see their inventory stack size increased from four to eight, and the day-night cycle lengthened for exploration and survival purposes.

From today, you can get creative and add your own mods, mod tools will allow you to create modifications to change up the features and mechanics of the game. All mods can be uploaded and downloaded via the Steam Workshop.

Ever since Early Access launched, mod support has been high on the list of requested features by the community and we are very happy to be able to add this to Stranded: Alien Dawn. The developers at Haemimont Games have been creating several sample mods to demonstrate how mods can be structured, as well as official mods that you can download right away!

As always, we want to thank everyone in the Stranded: Alien Dawn community for all your support, feedback, suggestions, and bug reports. Don't forget to join the Stranded: Alien Dawn Discord and you'll never miss any news! You can also follow the game on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, or join the discussions on Steam and the Frontier Forums.

Note: I will be creating a 1.7.10 version of this modpack due to some of the more fun mods are in 1.7.10 and not in 1.8 yet. It will also be released on Technic and will be linked together with this thread. Mods I'm thinking of adding into the 1.7.10 modpack is HQM (Hardcore Questing Mode) to replace the renamed paper challenges, some Food mods to add more variety to the game, Flan's Mod for easier travel and a few other mods people have been requesting.

Stranded raft is an infinite water map with few islands and a changed placement of resources to make it harder to survive. Also it includes more survival mechanics than vanilla minecraft. With the new features of minecraft 1.8 there is a Cold and Thirst system, so you could die of hypothermia in this map or being dehydrated.

You find yourself stranded on a raft floating somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. To stay alive, the most important is to provide yourself of basic necessities: Water, food, thermoregulation, shelter, the ability to think straight, to navigate safely and to avoid unpleasant and possibly fatal interactions with animals.

Cold increases being outdoors during the rain, being outdoors during the night or being in the water without a boat.

Cold can cause hypothermia and death.

It decreases during the day, being near a fire or eating mushroom stew.

Instead of stranded 3 which is not coming out in the near future, there have been many mods (modifications) created for the game, with extra items, new gameplay and characters etc. This list contains finished/unfinished/abandoned mods, which are playable.

Czechsention Mod - The Czechstention mod was a very promising and large mod when it was being developed, certain features included cooking menu which had variables such as burning food if it was cooked for too long. There were many new models such as a cow, new units, and many items which had been remodeled for improvement even though these already existed. Unfortunately the project died and only the demo was released which didn't have everything planned for it. Nonetheless this was one of the best mods.

Kidnap Mod - The kidnap mod was created by the user HudaJan (who also helped with the development of the Czechsention mod) he modeled and scripted the game by himself. This is probably the neatest and most well done mod yet, every model had a clean well made look and there was one for every new item instead of reusing models, or simply creating bitmaps for it some of these new things included: a Motorbike, Primitive car, Submachine gun, flying carpet, and bad natives with bow and arrows. There are many others as well. The adventure mode has an interesting story and there is a currency you can use to purchase things instead of resources. There a re also several new skills one of which was stealing, and the likely-hood of a successful steal would depend if it was day or night. HudaJan then proceeded to start in a Taxi Edition, which was a very exciting idea for the followers on his mods, however sadly this was never completed or released.

Shadow over the Pathoras - This modification was created by a group of modders named Wolf Soft. The story takes place in 1650 . The player controls William Wolf, a German navy officer, who accidentally enters the Pathoras, a kingdom ruled by the evil Darkan family. William must join his forces with the Pathoras rebels, in order to survive and win the war between Darkan family and rebels. The gameplay was a combination of action, adventure and logic puzzles. A demo was released in 2013 together with a bunch of trailers. In 2014 the mod was eventually cancelled (due to technical problems, bugs and lack of interest), despite the fact, that the full version was completed and the EN translation was almost completed too. Later that year the full version was accidentally deleted. In 2017 a remake was relased by Kloki38 (the founder of Wolf Soft) for GZDoom engine on the Mod DB. Its based on the early unreleased beta version.

Players who want to develop their own mods can utilize the tools found in the Mod Editor. These tools are so powerful that they enable players to create new survivors, add a new statue, and even alter how a plant works in Stranded: Alien Dawn, among others.

While we all enjoyed Oblivion, I think we can all agree that there was something missing from the formula. Choices and Consequences, memorable and interesting characters, quest diversity, more than one perspective, and a multitude of RPG elements. However with this mod there exists these beacons of light. They may be hidden by adversity, politics, stereotypes, fear, and hatred but.... If you can find these beacons and nurture their growth you can bring the light of diversity, intrigue, emotion, and understanding back to Cyrodiil!
