Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War hosts its highly anticipated multiplayer beta this October, and Xfinity customers can be among the first to experience the action across PS4, Xbox One and PC. Below, we'll explain how to get a free early access beta code without pre-ordering the game.
The code offered through this Xfinity partnership allows Comcast customers the opportunity to play during the early access period on their platform of choice. For those on PS4, that is the weekend of October 8. On Xbox and PC, the earliest start date is the weekend of October 15. You can, of course, continue to play during open periods as well, along with everyone else. This code basically just gets you a couple more days with the beta than the general public.
We may be in the dog days of summer right now, but the fall release season is just around the corner. And surely as the leaves will turn and the world will cool, at least to some degree, the video game world can rest easy knowing that its most bulletproof franchise will be giving us a new installment rife with respawns and weapon customization. But before that, it's time for fans to check out exactly what's going on with Call of Duty: Black Ops 4: the game's first closed beta goes live today, July 24 on PlayStation 4.
You can get a code one of a few ways. Anyone who pre-ordered the game will get a code, as hallowed a tradition in this industry as releasing a new Call of Duty every year. If you pre-ordered digitally, you'll be automatically entered in the beta. If you pre-ordered through a store you'll find the code either on your receipt or emailed to you. Comcast Xfinity customers are also eligible for codes by entering their details here. Anyone else should check for giveaways on social media and elsewhere on the internet: you can also ask PR to give you a code, but if that option is available to you then you're likely already aware of it.
There's a pretty sizeable beta available for people once the thing goes live: players will be able to mess around with ten specialists on six maps throughout six game modes. Black Ops 4 is expanding on the work in Black Ops 3 with a character-based multiplayer system based off of specialists with unique roles, though Treyarch cautions that this isn't a full-on Overwatch-style hero shooter: none of these specialists fight with giant hammers, for example. It should still be an interesting evolution both for the series as a whole and Black Ops, which as a sub-franchise now has more entries than most franchises manage on their own.
Here's what you shouldn't expect out the beta however: Blackout mode. Call of Duty's new battle royale mode will be getting its own beta in September, and this beta is focused on the more traditional multiplayer modes. We'll have impressions later on.
The fix for me was to to assign my Roku device to the Gateway using the xfinity app on my Iphone. Log into the app, tap the Internet icon at the bottom of the screen, tap your modem under devices, tap change Wifi Settings Using xFi, tap your network device name, tap Gateway under network devices, scroll down to see all your connected devices. When I got this far, it was showing the Roku stick under connected devices as being unassigned. I tapped it and was able to assign it on the next screen by tapping it and assigning to Household. (It gave me two choices as where to assign it - to Household or Guest.) It now shows up as assigned under my devices using the MAC address assigned to my Gateway modem. I was then immediately able to launch the Xfinity app on my TV and connect using the 6 digit code. No more error messages!
After the First Xfinity rep completely destroyed my mesh network and took 2 hours to get it somewhat back, the second one I spoke to helped fix the issue. I was getting the same screen. This is what the issue was.
This last item seems to be the key. We had the same problem as everyone else on this forum, but when given the six digit number to key in for activation, I was connecting to my Xfinity account via my alternate email address (personal address). Every indication (mostly thanks to the "success!" message and positive reaction of the Roku app) is that this works. It does NOT.
You must log into Xfinity with your primary account (for me, that was simply our @comcast.net address). When authorizing the app through that login, it worked perfectly well.
This is not a problem with your network, your configuration or your Roku. It is, however, a problem residing with Xfinity, and an internal error with how it handles your identity and service authorization. Until Xfinity repairs this logic flaw, the solution is to make sure that you log in with whatever your primary account address is.
Took 5 minutes. Go on xfinity chat, do not bother with the first representative. I said "I read on a blog this error is caused by identity confusion and the advance technical team can solve immediately." They transferred me to the Advanced Tech Team and the problem was solved right away. Hope this helps.
Yes I have 2 roku devices on 2 TVs, both did everything yours did. I tried all the fixes had a third roku stick brand new installed it and everything works went out and bought 2 new roku sticks both TVs working good had called xfinity several times they tried telling me my modem was not getting a full signal strange the new ones run fine on that modem
I receive error code TVAPP-00101, which says that "This device can only access Xfinity Stream on your in-home Xfinity Wifi." I am using my in-home WiFi and every other phone, tablet and even my Samsung TV Xfinity Stream App recognizes Xfinity as my in-home WiFi, but the Roku Device does not. This is the first time I have experienced this issue on my Roku Streaming Stick+ 3810R. Please help.
Roku is the only device where the xfinity stream app is required to be on the in-home xfinity network - other devices may restrict the channels but they will work. Be sure that you really are on your xfinity wifi router's network, not a guest or firewalled extension from some other router.
Do you hear the call? The call of duty? It's now autumn, which means the next Call of Duty isn't far away. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the 2020 installment of the popular military first-person shooter franchise, will be released for consoles and PC on November 13, 2020.
The first weekend, reserved only for players on PlayStation 4, took place last week from October 8 through October 12. But for everyone else playing on PS4, Xbox, and PC, the open beta begins this weekend.
First and foremost, the days you can access the beta are divvied up into two categories: Early Access and Open Beta. To gain Early Access, you must pre-order any edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War from any valid retailer. The open beta is just that, open for everyone even for those without a pre-order.
