To my dear former students,
I wanted to inform you that tickets for my last concert with the Wind Ensemble are now on sale through the department website ONLY. Please do NOT go to the music department office, and attempt to purchase tickets "on site" as they will not sell them to you at this time.
Go to the University of Nevada website – www.unr.edu. Then click the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner, type in Music Department, and click. The first link is Department of Music – Reno. Click that link. Click the Events link in the top right-hand corner. The menu will give you several links. Click Music Events Calendar, and go to the calendar. Under April 30th "Composers I've Known" follow the prompts, and you can purchase a ticket ($5.00) online. Again, this is the only way you can purchase tickets at this time.
I would like to invite you to a reception after the concert, which will be held at the Ramada Hotel/Casino on the 14th floor (Skyline Room). Warm and cold hors d'oeuvres will be served. There will be a no host bar. I would like you all to meet my immediate family - my three brothers and their wives.
The program will feature music by wind band composers who I've had the pleasure of working with over the past 40 years. The featured soloist will be my son, Grady, performing Eric Ewazen's Concerto for Bass Trombone and Wind Ensemble. Steve Martin and David Coyner, both alumni of the Nevada Band Department, have written new works for wind band. In addition, David Holsinger (one of my best friends) wrote a piece for CBDNA in my honor.
I wanted to get this to you immediately, as I don't know how many people will be attending the concert, but wanted to make it available to you. Please feel free to pass this along to anybody who might be interested in attending this concert.
Sincerely,
Mack
