Youmay want or need to reset your Sims if they become stuck or unresponsive. There are two ways you can reset your Sim. To start, open the cheat window by pressing CTRL + Shift + C. Hold all these keys at the same time to open the window.

1) bring up the cheat box like in the instructions above

2) in the cheat box type testingcheats on and press Enter (you should get a message that the cheat is active)

3) with the Sims that needs to be reset being the active Sim, Shift-click on the Sim and choose Reset Object (DEBUG) from the pie menu that pops up

4) turn testing cheats off by typing the cheat box tesintcheats off and press Enter.

This should reset your Sim if it is just a glitch in the Sim, household/lot, or save game file. But if your Mods or CC are causing the problem, you will need to test to see if they are the problem and then which one or ones are the problem. Then you will need to get the latest version of the Mod or CC that is the culprit as it is probably out of date! Mods/CC can become out of date any time EA releases a patch to the game like they did a few days ago! Good Mods and CC creators will update their creations to fit the latest EA patches, so you will need to delete the old version and replace it with the new version.

Also, it often isn't enough to just remove your Mods/CC out and repair the game... you will need to delete the local thumb cache.package file because sometimes bits of old/corrupted data will remain , even after you have removed your mods and this can still effect your game!

So, please do the following steps in order:

3) Fix you game in Origin by logging in and go to Library, then right-click on The Sims 4 and choose the "Repair Game" option from the list. Wait until Origin finishes repairing all your packs and not just the base game. If you are on a Mac it will just repair the base game.

5) Now you can try adding back items from your Mods folder one at a time checking your game each time to see which item is causing your game to not work properly. If you have a lot of items, you can try the 50/50 Method.

The CC creators will usually update the CC items and Mods after these updates, so when you find out which one is the culprit, you can get the updated version from whoever made that item of CC in the first place. You should try these steps any time you have problems in your game to rule out CC/Mods problems. It is the responsibility of the Mods/CC creators to update their items anytime EA releases a patch/update, and it is the responsibility of the people who use Mods/CC to make sure they are using the most recent version, which was on July 24 or near that.

After you delete all your outdated/broken Mods/CC and replaced them with the new versions compatible with the most recent update to the game, you can now move your Mods back into the game!

Please update us on your situation!

This has been making me want to demand a full refund from EA. They keep putting out packs for people to buy but won't fix the game. There's pathing issues, blocking issues, opening/closing build or photo mode causes even more FPS issues than normal play, every baby that is aged up gets stuck on you forcing you to OPEN Build mode to drop the bassinet on them to separate them, and worst of all this issue with queues not loading. My sims will stand in front of the bassinet of a crying baby just staring, or a kid I'm trying to disciple walks off and gets away with it, or I try to cancel an action that will take me away from my current objective and it stays in queue and acts on it making the sim go all the way up or down stairs or a ladder before saying oh I didn't need to do that, then ending up looping that a few times. So sick of having to pause the timer or pause to options menu before every action hoping its one of the times that will actually fix it. I'm on console so no mods. Its just the game that rapidly overheats my PS4 and external HD even though games with more detailed graphics and much higher action don't.

My main Sim has been stuck in the downstairs guest loo for two days now and I can't seem to get him moving (although all other Sims keep going about normally - even using the loo with him watching them forlornly as they sit there and then just get up and leave... ).

I've tried (numerous times) both:

* Ctrl+Shift+C / resetsim firstname last name / Enter

Stumbled on the idea a moment ago myself, as one of the other Sims was in a really foul mood - so I told him to go to the gym and chose the "stuck" Sim as the one to go with him. They both ended up outside the gym and, after a workout, are now both happily at home.

Thanks again for the assist !

@ayceikle If you're having a similar issue to this, please start a new thread. This one is old, and the causes could be very different. If you use mods, start at the pinned threads for current broken mods and issues.

Product: The Sims 4

Platform:PC

I want to talk about something you don't mention above: Sims stuck

How accessible is the current experience? Annoying, but OK

Summarize what in the product is difficult to use. I don't know all of the things with this bug but i know that if i try to travel through my phone option my sim is stuck on the phone until i shut down the game, sometimes they will just stand there no matter what command is given, i give my pets baths for forever also. they just sometimes get stuck doing one thing forever until i catch it and reset the game

How is this making it more difficult? I'm constantly having to close and reopen the game

How can we reproduce this experience? i think it came after i downloaded either the pet or jungle stuff packs since i downloaded them at the same time and didn't have this problem before

I had to use a non-US sim card for an overseas trip with my wife's new iPad 3. On return, after I removed the temporary sim, I was tired and I absentmindely put the US sim back in the iPad without putting it in the sim tray first.

So now I have a sim card stuck in the iPad with no tray. I tried to get it out myself, even buying micro tweezers, to no avail. It is a VERY tight space. I took it to the Apple Store, and was told that they could not get it out. They suggested going to a third party repair shop (interesting . . . .), and said that they only thing that they could do was exchange the iPad for a new one for half the cost of buying the new one. I was surprised the Apple did not offer ANY repair service if you did not have their AppleCare insurance (I did not get it since the sales rep said that the cost of getting glass replace was $150 without it, and the cost of AppleCare was $99, plus a $49 charge for glass if that broke - I had no idea that they simply do not do most other repairs).

I am at my wits end. I really do not feel like spending several hundred dollars on a 10 day old iPad to get a stuck sim card out, but it seems like the only other way is to take the thing apart which would be both tricky and void the warranty.

Did same thing. You have nothing to loose by trying this. Heat up the end of a small safety pin (after straightening the pointy end out) and carefully touch the end of the hot tip of safety pin to the plastic of the sim card. Let it sit for a bit as it lightly welds to the plastic. Then pull it out. Lightly sand the plastic of the sim card with a nail file if you get a "pimple" on the end. Sounds drastic but it beats replacing the iPad. Oh well. Can't believe I was that silly to insert in the first place. Stuff happens.

The micro-SIM card slot with the iPad is the same as the micro-SIM card slot with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, so this suggested repair place that only messes with iPhones shouldn't make any difference in this regard unless there is no other option besides taking the iPad apart. The same has probably happened with an iPhone 4 or 4S and maybe this repair place has some experience with this without having to take the device apart.

Having the AppleCare extended warranty makes no difference in this regard. This is accidental, not a manufacturing defect which isn't covered under the standard or extended warranty. I don't believe iPads are taken apart in an Apple store regardless. If there is a problem that is covered under the warranty, the iPad will be exchanged under warranty right then and there, not sent off for repair.

The new AppleCare extended warranty incudes 2 claims for any accidental damage. Dropped in a pool or a bathtub, pay the $49 deductible and you get an exchange under warranty. Not just for broken glass.

The thing is, the nature of your problem doesn't qualify to get service under the terms of AppleCare or even the limited warranty apple extends, so they probably told you to go to a third party to save money because they are under no obligation to service your iPad.

I understand about the AppleCare - you have to pay the extra $$20 for the accidental coverage and get Plus. I would have got it, but when I was told about it in the Apple Store, I asked the salesperson how much it cost to repair a screen, and she said $150. I therefore decided that it was a bad idea to buy the AppleCare since the cost of repair seemed reasonable enough. Now I find out that there is no repair at all for anything -- they simply send it back to China regardless, and it does not cost $150, but rather much more.
