after I use unpoly on my site one user with an old safari browser has a problem using it now.

"Safari can't open „https://www.example.de:0/url“, as Safari can't establish a connection to the server „www.example.de“."

(the original untranslated message is:
"Safari kann die Seite „https://www.example.de:0/url“ nicht öffnen, da Safari keine Verbindung zum Server „www.example.de“ aufbauen kann.")

Mac OS X, Version 10.5.8

and
Safari, Version 5.0.6 (5533.22.3).

with firefox the site is sill usable, but not with the old safari anymore. do you have any idea what can cause the problem? the port part in https://www.example.de:0/url  looks at least suspicious. also the up-source on my site looks suspicious, too.

<body up-source="https://www.example.de:/url">

I can see a similiar behaviour on your own site:

<body up-source="https://unpoly.com:/">

I think, there should not be a colon, if there no one in the normal url. I do not know if this can have anything to to with the problem, but it looks at least suspicious.

If you have any pointer for me, that would be very helpful.

kind regards
Sven

Hi svsdehh,

this is probably caused by up.util.normalizeUrl().

Note that we don't support or test against old versions of Safari.
Even if you fix this one issue, there will most likely be other
incompatibilities with a browser from 2010.

I would be glad to merge a patch up.browser.isSupported() that will
prevent Unpoly from booting with old Safaris. It's usually better to
serve a pure server-side application before progressive enhancement in
such a case.

Best regards
Henning

yes, that would be that best solution. I have no problem, if unpoly does not boot up. But it should not stop the website from working, when it boots on an old browser. I will see, whether I can solve this problem. thanks for your hints!
