This is also happening to me. I'm on my home wifi with no restrictions.
If i'm not mistaken, I might have authorized the Clock app already, cloud it be a bug where the app doesn't understand it's been authorized already?
This bug seems to be around since June 2022....
I'm using my personal computer - so no restrictions. When i first used Clock app, linking my spotify worked fine. Everything was working good until i had to reset my spotify password and then this started to happen.
As for clock app, I had thought it was an issue with it but i have gone through all the troubleshoot with microsoft and clock app support. Reset the app, uninstalled and reinstalled etc etc and because of this, they have said it is a spotify issue.
Hey there, I have gone through all the trouble shoot with clock app. Have reset all these setitngs, uninstalled & reinstalled. Same as spotify app. All these steps were done with online support with Microsoft, clock app & spotify - which has led me to here
If you have followed all of the steps above to repair/reset/reinstall the Clock app, and the Spotify integration is still broken, unfortunately, there's not much else (that I know of) that you can do.
Same issues here, I thought I was alone in experiencing the "Bug" It was working some time ago, but I wanted to use the app since its kinda helpful and a good Pomodoro app pre installed. Did all necessary Troubleshoot in my end. Will wait for Further updates for it
If restarting the PC and a simple reinstall didn't help with this you might need to try a clean reinstall as well. This will remove any corrupted data from previous installations that could be causing the issue.
In case you see no difference after the clean reinstall, check your hosts file for entries that need to be deleted. Follow the steps described here on how you can do that. It's also a good idea to check if the web player works as expected in a private/incognito window. This step makes sure you avoid issues with your browser's cache.
In case the issue persists, it'd be great if you could send over a screen recording showing how the app behaves with the browser open and closed, so we can take a closer look and see what we can suggest next.
I've been facing this problem for so long now, tried all the solutions provided by Spotify and other sites, but the solution was a simple as this.. Thanks, really glad I can finally listen to Spotify using the Windows app
What's seem to work for me is disabling hardware acceleration in Spotify as well as on the speaker device itself. For good measure I also disabled Signal Enhancements on the device in Windows too. Now only getting a few very brief stutters here and there .
I did not know the Spotify Windows app is actually a Chrome web app in disguise!
BTW, I have a new Dell Inspiron 16 2-in-1 with 32 GB RAM and nothing else running ! So it's not an "old PC" or over worked by any means.
hi. when i try to use spotify with a separate program playing audio (ableton, discord, firefox, etc) spotify and only spotify starts to crackle and stutter. i have tried updating my drivers and reinstalling spotify, but neither helped.
Delete everything inside of it, it will be re-created when you launch spotify, it should remove the message. If you want, set it to read only aftewards, shouldn't hurt anything to do so or the message will popup again over time.
Brilliant, this worked. I keep my windows up to date but it kept appearing. Contacted Tech Support and they had me uninstall and reinstall. It went away for a day. I even upgraded to Windows 11 and the message persisted. Now it's gone. Thank you.
I'm running the VERY latest windows 11 update. No spyware, nothing. Still gives me that error every time. Spotify tech support's only answer was to uninstall and reinstall. That took it away for one instance. Then it came up again.
I run Windows LTSE which doesn't get the same schedule of updates. I don't need a music service telling me every time I start program that something is out of date. It's not your job, and you're wrong.
This popup is very annoying and delays the startup of the Spotify app. I know my Windows version is not the latest, but I can't update it because of special software I use in my profession. Why can't Spotify remove this horrible popup.
I've been reading this thread for months. I tried many things but couldn't get it fixed. Today, I decided to look into it again and I finally fixed this annoying and time consuming error message. Here's how it worked and it's permanent!
Once the Advanced Security window opens, just remove the Access from everyone. You can let Full control to you. Just make sure you're an admin. From my side, I clicked Disable inheritance (in the yellow box) and it also works since i'm the owner.
So as you can see in the example above, you have to remove access to all the entries that have Full control so they cannot write again in the leveldb folder. If you just remove the files inside the leveldb folder, next time you launch Spotify, the system will add stuff inside that folder and you'll get the error message again. So make sure the system and everything else beside you don't have access. Make sure you have deleted everything in the leveldb folder before.
I've recently bought an iFi Zen V2 DAC. After plugging it in for the first time, Spotify stopped working for a while but I found a similar post to the one I'm making now, and the fix for that worked fine.
However, after installing the latest drivers, Spotify has entirely stopped working. Any time I try to play anything, even through the standard realtek audio device, it brings up a 'Spotify can't play this right now' error.
Good news! I haven't reinstalled the iFi drivers, but I have uninstalled the spotify desktop app (downloaded from the Spotify site) and reinstalled it from the Microsoft store. The same issue occurred where it wouldn't play at the highest bitrate, but the solution from this post now works again! I don't know if I want to risk reinstalling those drivers, but at least I know how to fix it now.
Thank you for posting and welcome to the Community!
We understand you've experienced a break up in the functionalities of your Spotify app after updating the drivers of your DAC. Although this situation could be related to the specifics of your iFi Zen V2 and your personal setup, it could be worthwhile to perform another so called clean reinstall of your Spotify desktop app, making sure to follow the steps given here. It's a more thorough reinstall, that clears possible cached data residues and so we hope that this will make a difference for you.
If the above does not help, we can also suggest taking a look at the thread here, where users have discussed a similar issue and have found a solution connected with tweaking the sample rate settings.
Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.
Thanks for your swift reply.
Sorry to hear this didn't do the trick for you. As you mention that the playback is not available even through your Realtek device, this could be related to some drivers' conflict in your specific setup. Could you actually play/hear sounds from other apps and sources, or this happens only with Spotify? You can also try uninstalling/rolling back the DAC drivers to see if you'll be able to play music as usual using your on board audio card as before? If this helps, maybe you can also contact the Support folks of your DAC's manufacturer to address this or for some additional advice.
Also, I know this might be redundant to say, but it's worthwhile to check if the app's not accidently switched into Offline mode, you can see more info here.
Keep us posted, we'll be on the lookout for your reply.
win 11 solution for me is going to System > Sound > Volume mixer under all the settings it says
''Reset sound devices and volumes for all apps to recommended defaults''
-Press '' Reset''
Now it works for me.
Interesting, it could have something to do with the rounded corners at the top. This doesn't seem to occur on my end though. Are you able to consistently reproduce it? Have you noticed it occurring after a specific action, for example, resizing the window, waking the screen, playing a new song, etc.
I came across your post while searching for a solution and i too can say i have this issue, i find it happens when i switch songs and occasionally when i resize the window, a screenrecording i cannot provide due to my pc not being able to record properly but imagine as soon as the song switches to a different song the top bar changes to the look of windows 7. I am assuming it has to do with windows wanting to put the song info on the top bar since the song info does show up on that bar. Another thing to mention is that the top bar goes back to the normal look when alt tabbing to the spotify application.
