Thanks in advance for any help on this. I have a paint library of colors that I use a lot and I want to modify the wall paint color in the D5 library to different colors I use and save it to my local library. Is there a way to do this?

Steps I tried:

Hi massa.sm, if I can help you, I need to understand what you mean. Put on this forum that you posted the directions with a picture of what you are doing. So I can understand well, not only to me as a colleague, but also to the D5 team.

I am trying to create my library of paint colors and was trying to simply use the existing white wall paint then re-saving it as the new color and when I go look in local the color is still white and not the new color. Please see attached. Thank you.

After applying the white wall paint and changing the color to red then saving it to local as a new color - The original White Wall Paint is there instead of the new red color45481274 380 KB

To create my custom paint library I ended up simply clicking on objects then dragging dropping my existing .png paint colors from my library then using the AI tool to generate the maps for each .png base color. I was tempted to simply keep dragging the .png maps colors over and saving quickly without using the AI generator or filling in with my rough, metallic, normal maps then thought what if I changed one of the colors would this affect all of the other colors in my library with the same named rough, metallic, normal maps? Therefore, each .png color I dragged over to the custom material I generated the other maps - roughness, metallic, normals for each one just in case. Please clarify the best approach to re-create my existing .png paint library for D5. I want to avoid batch importing all of the other maps with each color and would rather drag and drop the color save to local and rename. I am not sure if I need to use the AI generator tool for each .png color so those maps correspond with the same name making it a whole material?

Thank you,

Sandra

I normally start with Substance Sampler and sometimes Designer to create my materials, and I use those programs because they work with multiple renderer programs where you can convert material maps to a long list of mostly used render engines.

One question when you have the same material type like a plain paint material for example that shares the same attributes for roughness, metallic and normal, is it necessary to generate AI maps for each individually named .png base color map or can I simply make my 1st paint color material with the AI tools then just replace the color and save as new color and repeat that process without having to use the AI generator tool for each .png paint color map?

I use a solid color from this pack of scrapbook paper for the color that I will paint the paint stirrers all over. This year I chose a bright red, and found a big bottle of tomato red paint for $2.99.

Step Three: Choose one page of scrapbook paper that has lots of little items on it. These will be what you Mod Podge onto the handles of the paint stirrers/shelf markers. I chose a page with colorful owls, and cut them apart. Hint: This would be much easier to do with a paper cutter than it was with scissors and a ruler.

I spread newspaper out on the tile floor of my living room, squirt the paint into a plastic cup so that I can dip my paintbrush into it, and then I spend a few evenings painting every side of each paint stirrer, leaving them out to dry in between Olympic events coats of paint.

I love the fact that Home Depot stores (and to be fair, probably other stores) are so generous. I went in once to get sticks to paint so I could keep track of how my library helpers were shelving books and asked how much to buy them. When I said I needed 100 the staff member behind the counter just started counting and gave them to me. I was super impressed! Now I can have my helpers put a stick of their color beside the book they shelve and I can go along behind to check to see if they did it correctly.

I used to use this as the same set of shelf markers for every class. Now I only use these with kindergarten, and I use my combination library card/shelf markers for first through fifth grades. I posted about those here: -card-shelf-markers-part-2/

Thanks for your comment, Jamie!

Have you ever tried spray painting the sticks with outdoor paint (the stuff made for patio furniture, etc?) Then you could spray them all at once, let them dry, flip them over, and spray the other side. I love the modge podge idea!

Paint & Sip classes are held in the Roxbury Library every month or so (with occassional summer or holiday breaks). They are BYOB - everyone is encouraged to bring their drink and snack (or even entire meal) of choice! The library provides glassware, utensils, and plates so you don't need to worry about a thing.

Classes are led by an experienced art teacher and we promise--you WILL leave happy with your creation. It may not turn out exactly like the picture, but you'll be proud of your accomplishments. Most importantly, you'll have a great time.

Marsha Bayley Turner is a retired middle school art teacher. She taught at the Ringwood School District for 20 years until the 2018-2019 school year. Before becoming a teacher, Marsha ran a children's art studio.

The Roxbury Township Public Library is a municipal library serving the communities of Succasunna, Ledgewood, Landing, Berkshire Valley, Port Morris, and Kenvil. Residents of the township are eligible to a free library card which enables access to 2.8 million items across the Morris Library Alliance including digital books, museum passes and more.

Anything else I should know about mixing paint? Darker colours can easily overpower lighter colours. Blue and black are very powerful, and should be added little by little anytime you are mixing.

Adding this as a resource here, I did a step-by-step program twice in the last few weeks with one of the owl paintings on this website.

SO. MUCH. FUN. And so many requests from kids and parents alike to make it come back!

And now I so badly want to do this one too!

Do you have a particular source you get your canvases for cheaper? We did a huge pack of cheap canvas board, but I could see the amounts adding up pretty significantly if we make this regular.

(Thank you!)

EDIT: So, far, I have found Javascript libraries that allow easy animation of canvas elements -- such as Raphael JS -- and Javascript tutorials for creating simple Paint apps, but no robust libraries for Paint-like applications.

You can try Painterro. It can be used for pasting and processing screenshots, cropping, drawing primitives and text, rotating, resizing (changing resolution), scaling, drawing arrows, exporting with desired compression level, supports hotkeys

There is processingJS, but as it is port of the JAVA bassed processing you write your code in "javaish" processing language. But after all you could create what an paint like app. Another framework is fabricJS which is also really great to work with canvas.

When it came to the the interior bookcases however I switched to an electric sander fitted with P120 grit paper. Thank goodness May pitched in and grabbed a sander. We were able to sand the entire room in an afternoon.

Why use a spray gun when clearly there are brushes and rollers? For the even smooth finish of course!! Besides, when your mother-in-law gifts you a sprayer for Christmas then a bright idea may pop into your head. Ideas like painting a bookcase, lined library shelves, desk and all.

Though she currently paints in oils, Myers has worked in many media, including wood carving. Myers has been drawing and painting since she was a child growing up in Vermont, where she taught herself about art through library books and adult education classes.

Since retiring, Myers is able to work on her art daily. A signature member of the Grand View Fine Arts Society, Myers has studied with her mentor, Stefan Baumann, for the past five years. She has had several one-person shows at North Valley Art League, Mendocino Art Center and the Art Walk. Myers took some time out from painting to share part of her journey with DATE.

I always loved drawing as a child. When I was 16 I received basic oils for my birthday. I was the art editor for my yearbook in high school. After high school, I took adult education art classes and continued drawing and painting while bringing up my children.
