VoicemailAl Mersal) messaging service is an advanced telephone answering service customised to suit unique customer needs, especially for those on the move and who spend time out of their homes or offices.
The password is a secret number that protects the security and privacy of your messages and mailbox, and allows access to authorised people only. Whenever you access your mailbox from another telephone, the system prompts you to enter the password.
You can apply for a new password by visiting your nearest etisalat Business Centre or outlet, with a valid identity document. The old password will be deactivated and a you will get a new 4-digit password. You can change it to a 6-digit password through the mailbox set-up menu.
Also, consider the many alternatives that can make voicemail useful to you, particularly if your phone is your main point of contact for business. If you are still wanting the benefits of voicemail, but just wish it was simpler, consider using a smart voicemail app. Apps like Vxt Voicemail are make it so you can read you voicemails as if they were text messages. Vxt is available on the App Store and Google Play.
If you want to turn off your voicemail outright so that others cannot leave you messages, the quickest and easiest way to do so is by using a MMI code. A MMI code, or Man-Machine-Interface code, is a way for your phone to communicate with your mobile service provider and change settings which affect how your phone handles calls (among other things).
One of these codes is ##004#, which tells your mobile service provider to disable your conditional call forwarding settings. This disables a feature that your voicemail relies on to work. Therefore, when your conditional call forwarding settings are disabled, your voicemail is too.
However, not all mobile service providers comply with global standards around MMI codes, even though they are required to. This means that depending on your provider, this method might not work. Try dialling ##004# from your phone app as shown in the screenshot below, and then give yourself a test call using another phone to see if your voicemail has turned off successfully.
The specific type of voicemail settings you will have access to will depend on the phone you are using and the service provider you are with. You may not have the capacity to deactivate your voicemail in some cases. In that case, also have a go at the other methods.
You may also be able to turn off 'call forwarding' through your phone's call settings. This can be found by accessing the settings in your phone's calling app, then choosing "supplementary services" then choosing "disable" for forwarding when busy, unanswered, or unreachable. If you need more help on how to do this, check out this video which will take you step by step through all the best methods available.
Having to check voicemail messages is a dreaded task for many. To get the benefits of using voicemail without the hassel, consider switching to a visual voicemail app. A visual voicemail app makes checking your voicemails more like checking text messages. Visual voicemail apps work alongside your service provider to make your life easier.
With a visual voicemail app, your messages are transcribed and displayed in an email-like display, allowing you to quickly read and prioritize them without painstakingly listening to every single audio message. You don't even need to dial a number to find out who left the call, how long the message lasted, or what the content of the message was. Simply open the app and scroll through and read your voicemails, in any order you choose.
Some voicemail apps have an integrations marketplace, meaning you can receive your messages in third-party apps like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce. You can also use voicemail apps with landlines and toll-free numbers, not just mobile phone numbers. Also, if you're a busy professional, you can share your voicemail inbox with others like your colleagues, and set up multiple inboxes if you have more than one phone number.
Voicemail apps like Vxt have options for both individuals, professionals, and business owners, who get left a lot of voicemail. The time saved can accumulate to hours each week, which can be spent on other more meaningful tasks.
Alternatively, you can go online and register your profile with your service provider on their website. Once you have made an account, you can usually change your voicemail function in the account settings tab. This will save you the time and hassle of contacting the service provider directly.
If you would like to activate or deactivate International Roaming, you can do so online via My Account or the Telstra 24x7 App. Alternatively call, even when travelling, free from your Telstra mobile, on +61 439 12 5109.
In relation to my original post.. I disabled Messagebank which has worked for 'voice' mail, however it now defaults to the message2text service so that I receive a text message when someone leaves me a message.
Parents are going away and wont be using that much data and don't mind the $10 a day, just don't want an app to go rouge and start using heaps of data and getting charged $10 every time it exceeds. If it cuts off until you say yes then that is fine.
Still on Siebel plans but have international day pass enabled. And that's the other thing that confused me is in the Telstra app it says. Data Top Up Usage If you go over your daily pass limit we'll automatically add 1GB topup for $10, nothing about texting like website says.
which Telstra roaming partners restrict Telstra roaming customers from specific frequencies / technologies (I never saw 5G on Telstra roaming in Japan for an entire month between Osaka and Sapporo and most places in between), or framed in a more positive way, having a list of supported frequenices and technologies provided for each roaming partner.
At the time of writing, LTE deployment is globally ubiquitous with over 700 launches worldwide. While LTE data roaming agreements are widespread too. In turn, network operators in 230 markets have launched VoLTE domestically. Around 50 of those have deployed VoLTE Roaming.
I just called Telstra on the roaming helpdesk number and asked. She said on both my plans one being the JB $49 and the other the $58 Basic Mobile Plan, that 1GB is included and its $10 per extra but they will text you and you have to accept it otherwise the data is cut.
I have my Australian contacts stored with the +61 prefix in my Oppo Find X5 Lite CPH2371 running Android 13.0, however when calling from Singapore or Japan with Telstra international roaming an Australian number from my call history (that was in my contacts list with +61 prefix), the +61 prefix was stripped, and unless I selected "edit prefix before dialing", the handset would attempt to call a local Singapore or Japanese number, not the Australian number I was trying to call.
I have just come back from Japan, Telstra Pre-Paid International roaming worked very well, great coverage in Japan, switched between SoftBank and NTT docomo, was full 4G almost everywhere except some forested areas near Mt Fuji. I have a Realme 6.
I purchased the international pack as I departed Australia, no problem, when I turned my phone on in Japan it worked straight away.
If you need to get another pack while overseas make sure you do it before it expires, otherwise you will need wi-fi to add it as the stupid MyTelstra App would redirect to a site that you couldn't access without active data pack (some parts of the app work on roaming without an active pack, but not the add pack part lol).
Also the Telstra app needs you to have a Telstra account to add international data packs
The Telstra app does a good job of tracking usage
Use the whole phone number when making calls, including international codes etc.
Still waiting for the details of Telstra's VoLTE roaming to be fixed but I have had $300 plus of roaming charges waived due to the service description incorrectly stating that VoLTE roaming was available generally.
How did you get them to waive the charges?
VOLTE/VOWIFI are just new technologies to place calls but use data.
However, you do not need to 'activate' mobile data to take advantage of 4G VOLTE calls.
Our web site does not specify which countries have VoLTE available for Telstra countries as our roaming service for voice calls is technology agnostic. If VoLTE roaming is not available for a country listed in a customer's applicable IR Day Pass zone (for whatever reason) then voice calls can continue to be made with 3G or 2G while roaming in those countries. Even if our roaming partner supports VoLTE in another country the service may still fall back to 3G or 2G in some situations.
I thought that Telstra were supposed to know about technologies like VoLTE roaming and whether they were covered in roaming agreements, and inform their customers what was possible based on the technologies offered in their roaming agreements, to assist their customers in having compatible handsets for roaming and realistic expectations for roaming.
You can make calls and send messages while overseas using VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling, Telstra Video Calling and Telstra Messaging, depending on your mobile plan and device compatibility. Check with your device manufacturer to ensure compatibility for your specific device.
