Hi there,

I am wondering if unpaywall includes open-source versions of the papers hosted on the University of Toronto repository TSpace (https://tspace.library.utoronto.ca/)?

I found some papers that Google Scholar flagged as open-source with PDFs links going to TSpace, but when I open the journal page, unpaywall extension stays grey and locked and it says that there are no open-access versions of the given paper.

Is there a mechanism to provide feedback on specific papers when something like this is observed?

Thank you,
Lazar.

Yes, it does. According to the Unpaywall dump of 2022-03-09, there are
6504 DOIs with a best_oa_location pointing to that domain, plus 31
pointing to hdl.handle.net/1807 .

A nice side-effect is that there are hundreds of English Wikipedia
articles pointing to this repository.

You can file a support ticket to report mistakes, but it's worth first
checking whether the repository record follows the metadata
recommendations explained in the docs. Often a minor metadata fix can
help Unpaywall's detection (like adding the reference DOI in the
record). Note that Unpaywall currently only provides data about works
with a (CrossRef) DOI, unlike Google Scholar.

Thank you, Federico.

How do I file a support ticket? Just by emailing to sup...@unpaywall.org or is there another direct method?

Are these the docs you are referring to: https://unpaywall.org/data-format#oa-location-object? The algorithm is described briefly, but without any details.

Thanks,
Lazar.

Hi Lazar. I'm with Unpaywall and monitor this group, so if you have some example DOIs I can look into them and try to see what the issue is. You can paste them here in the group, or email the support address you mentioned.

Oh and Federico thanks for helping out!

That's great. Thank you, Casey. I will follow up via the support email.

Lazar.
