I lost my network connectivity again today :(. SOS showed up again on my iPhone XR. Called Xfinity mobile customer service and he said that after I upgraded my iOS my service features was not updated and he basically pushed the updated services to my phone. I then rebooted the phone and I got 2 bars on the phone :)
Hi all, I have an iPhone X and took it to the Genius Bar on Saturday. Hardware passed and software was updated. My phone randomly switches between screens, apps, freezes, and has a complete mind of its own. It will flip from Safari to Facebook to email rapidly and drop me from websites and take me to texting. My next Genius appt is Wednesday. The guy said it warrants being replaced if it happened again (which it is) but can't really use my phone for a couple days. Has anyone experienced this? And can you get help at Apple quicker than waiting for Genius Bar appt?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7. Once or twice an hour, between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm, it will randomly reboot. It only happens when I'm at my desk at work, or within 20-30 feet of my desk. If I'm outside on the patio, or anywhere else in the office, it doesn't happen. It doesn't happen when I'm out at lunch, or at home. It only happens at work,
I've tried disabling all non-android apps. I've tried running in Airplane mode and Safe mode. I've tried factory resetting my phone. In all cases, the problem keeps happening. I literally kept my phone in factory default settings for an hour and the problem kept happening.
My phone carrier (T-Mobile) and Samsung both just told me to replace my phone. But I don't think it's a hardware problem, because it only happens in one physical location. There's got to be something in my office that's causing this. I'm in the IT department, and the server room is right next to my desk, so there are a LOT of devices here, not all of which I can turn off for testing purposes, so maybe I'll never find out which one is responsible.
I've done an exhaustive google search of things that could cause this. I checked my phone for malware and for all types of spying apps and remote control software. By default I've got Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC, Wifi calling, Location, and "Nearby device scanning" disabled. I've uninstalled all but the absolute necessary apps that I use all the time and know are legit.
I've done a ton of troubleshooting, so I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff. I'm hoping that someone here will be able to give me some new ideas for things to try, because I'm going to lose my mind if I don't figure this out. I could just replace my phone and hope for the best, but then I'll never know what's causing this. I must know!
Biscuit King - I'm not aware of any magnets nearby, and a quick poll of the people around me resulted in some crazy looks and also no magnets. I haven't observed anything that happens right before or during a reboot. Sometimes I'm using my phone when it happens, sometimes not. The desk phone doesn't ring, I'm not doing anything specific on my computer, nothing like that. I haven't been as vigilant as I could be about tracking that stuff though, so at least that gives me something to try, thanks for that.
Captain Frostbyte - I haven't installed anything like that, and as far as I know it would have been removed from my phone after the factory reset. Also, it doesn't happen as soon as I enter the geographical location, it happens kind of randomly while I'm sitting there. That gives me something else to check though, to see if maybe one of the pre-installed apps on my phone has a setting for that, maybe triggered to happen on a certain timeline.
Another thing, that could be coincidence or could be relevant. My boss left around 1pm today so productivity in the IT department is at an all time low, and my phone hasn't been rebooting as much. Maybe once or twice in the past three hours, when normally it would have been rebooting at least twice an hour.
EDIT: found some old google code issues from 2012 where certain wifi access points would cause random reboots because of the AP's sending something wonky in the packets, but that should not be the case on a GS7, especially if you're phone was still doing this in airplane mode.
I have a dual sim phone so I was able to (repeatedly) experiment with switching one or the other sim card on and off every time I visited that one cursed geographical area (in Prague) and the evidence is irrefutable - in 100 % of the cases T-mobile sim card was active my phone went bonkers and vice versa.
I have been having an issue in the evenings with my internet losing connection along with my phone service. The connection test to the satelites is fine and the lights on the front of the modem for transmit and recieve are flashing normally and my WIFI still connects, just no connection to the internet. This will happen randomly, work for 10-20mins then drop for 5-10mins then come back for an hour, then drop again for 15min then come back. Every device on my network is affected. I am not home during the day so I cannot tell if it happens all the time. My phone service is also affected. When the internet is working the phone calls are very garbled and nothing works when the internet is down. This has been going on for several weeks now. It happens with clear skies and a clean dish. Everything seems connected fine, just the internet drops, so I figure it has to be on Hughesnet's end. What gives? Are they doing some sort of maintenance in the evenings?
Mine is doing the same thing. Thought it was just getting old but I put sim card in a new s4 active and it did the same thing. I thought it might be the a problem with the sim card so I got a new sim card and put it into another brand new never used s4 active and it also started randomly shutting off. So now I have 3 phones all having to same problem. How does this happen and how can I fix it. They will stay on longer if I keep them plugged in.
I recommend in the future to have the battery drain to 0% instead of charging it when its at 25%, 50% ect... it gives it more life and time to cool down. Make sure you are using the proper charging 'brick' and cable recommended for you phone aswell. Clean the battery and check to see if dust lies on part of the battery thats connects to the phone.
Lately my mobile is randomly playing music while I did not touch my phone at all. My account is not shared with others, but I do have spotify on my laptop. But during the times those issues occured, I did not touch my spotify application at all... I was wondering if someone else experienced this also and has discovered the cause of this (and hopefully a solution)?
Cheers,
Sundae
I was wondering the same thing why YouTube was vibrating randomly. Now I know. It wasn't a big deal to me and wasn't bothering so that's why I never asked.
It's been vibrating at random times for months now though so this isn't a new thing.
I wonder if this community can help me! I have had my Samsung galaxy S8 for several years and I love it. It's always on silent mode and so never makes a sound unless I'm playing multimedia or it vibrates lightly when I get a call. But recently something must have changed. Several times a day the phone makes a sound like a notification alert. Everytime it does it I go into notifications trying to track down the culprit but there is never any log of recent notifications. I've checked in exceptions too and nothing. I also checked the card payment feature as I heard that can cause sounds and I do keep my debit card in my phone case but that was turned off and I tested by taking my card out of the case and it still makes the sound occasionally. Multimedia volume is on (and I want to keep it that way as I am sure the sound will go away if I reduce this volume but that's a workaround and I need to find the source of this sound!) All other volumes (Bixby, call, notifications, system) are at zero. I'm at my wits end you guys! Does anyone know how I might be able to find out what's causing this mystery sound? Thanks in advance!
Hiya - I don't have the advanced options when I go into settings>>>notifications unfortunately. I can see all the apps listed there and can do show more and sort by recent but alas nothing claims to have been sending me a notification anytime close to when the sound happens on my phone. It's sort of a soft "Bing bong" - really not sure I'm describing it well though lol!
FreePBX is setup on cloud
I connect my phones on it remotely.
My softphone can connect to it with no problem, it does not experience disconnection or any problem.
However my IP Phone (Polycom 321) will randomly becomes UNREACHABLE. this happens everytime and it will take about an hour to reconnect again or sometimes it will not connect forever you have to reboot the physical phone.
When it shuts down, it (sometimes) wipes the app data and says that I have to update everything when my storage used stays the same. This happening several times results in my phone filling up with duplicate updates. But it doesn't wipe it every time.
The battery is probably not delivering enough voltage to the processor to keep the phone on. Just like how Apple was slowing down iPhones as the batteries aged, the processor needed more voltage than the battery could deliver. Best bet is to replace the battery.
I searched the forum for vibration issues and found similar problems, but nothing sounded exactly like the one my Z1 Comapct keeps having. Either the vibration don't work or it has to be force stopped. My phone vibrates too much and randomly.
For a week or so now my phone has been vibrating (short vibrations) randomly. I think the vibration is mainly activated by my touch, but I haven't found any more specific trigger points. I have been hearing (or imagening?) some vibrations while the phone is just lying on the table, but can't say for sure. With random I mean there isn't any incoming message or notification, the phone just vibrates.
