Thatis the pain of farming black lotus. They have a terrible spawn rate and I think one per zone that they can spawn in. If you can get a few you can make money or give them to your guild. In Loot Council guilds I have been in they took into consideration your contributions to the raid team as much as your attendance. So if you and another person both wanted the same item in a raid but they financed all the flasks it was likely it would go to them first. It makes sense too. Sorry to turn this into a loot comment lol. Kinda got away from me.

Flasks were common in raids, but it was not common for everyone to use them. Most of the time it was just the tank or a few tanks using a flask of the titans. Most of the DPS will probably be fine using elixirs instead which are far easier to come by.

But yes, alchemy is very valuable. Even if you can only make fire protection pots and Mana pots. Heck, even if you can only make free action potions. There are so many useful potions, elixirs and flasks.

Magic shield pots, underwater breathing, trollsblood, healing, buffs and so many other utility potions really do make a difference. Especially the underwater breathing pots you can usually make for yourself on demand since Vanilla breath timers were much shorter than they are today.

To make a flask in Vanilla you need to get a Black Lotus which is a very rare and expensive herb. In Vanilla to be able to craft a flask you need to go to a alchemy lab which only existed in Scholomance and Blackwing Lair I believe. Some of the really high end recipes are rare drops from dungeons so not everyone will be able to make the best potions, elixirs and flasks. All of these things make flasks very expensive and make high end potions worth alot. Also in vanilla most potions have a 2 minute cooldown which resets in combat so it very likely on long fights that there will be people that use multiple potions each fight.

Alchemy was nice farming was time consuming. I usually just farmed for mongoose to get extra agility and do transmutes every other day i think it was. But engineering and mining was more fun and just buy the potions from AH worked better for me.

Elixirs are the most accessible DPS increasing consumables in the game. There are also some utility elixirs for stuff like water breathing that can be useful. The best ones include Mongoose for melee, shadow power for warlocks and greater arcane for other casters. All of these recipes are tradeable. Some are sold by vendors, but you can always check the AH.

The three I mentioned first are used by the largest number of DPS classes and will likely be most relevant. I have had some success with mongoose, shadow power and water breathing. The shadow power recipe is also a great vendor flip, it is sold by among other the SW alchemy supply vendor so it is very easy to check.

Elixirs are slighly lower in volume than potions, but you can still expect to sell and post a lot of these.

Flasks are the top tier consumable. The recipes drop from various dungeon bosses, but they can be traded. You have to craft the flasks at the alchemy lab in Scholomance, so bring materials and be ready to stay a while as the cast time is 10 seconds per craft. These are very expensive due to black lotus being extremely rare, but they are the cream of the crop.

With the low wipe rate I assume a lot of players will be prefering elixirs for PvE, but PvP might be a different beast.

There are three major transmutes that are relevant for goldmaking. Arcanite bars are the easiest to get, but also the lowest value one. It has a 48 hour cooldown, but the essence transmutes only have 24 hours. The other two are world drop recipes that you can buy from the AH. Life to earth and undeath to water are both very profitable. Undeath to water is the most profitable one, with the recipe selling for about 1000 gold on my realm. I bought life to earth for 130 gold, which would pay itself back in about 2 weeks of transmutes. I get about 8 gold worth of profit per day using that transmute, which is about twice what I would get from arcanite. The arcanite transmute is best sold directly as the AH cut and deposit cost will eat the profit if you sell it through the AH.

Is there a way to see the profit per craft taking into account cost of materials? I know you can do it for recipes you have, but is there a way to see this for recipes you DONT have (so you know which recipes do prioritize)?

You can do, but not with the settings in my classic alchemy group as they are ment for crafting. A similar setup to my material flipping group could work where you buy up to 80% dbmarket and post at 100% dbmarket

The tailoring/enchanting vs herb/alch is just a choice really. Money Making wise: Tailoring/alch in my opinion is less valuable than herb/alch as tailoring only helps the int users and enchanting is enchanting. While with Alch: you are making stuff that all 9 classes will use so there will be a bigger market for that.

If they are going to have all of the neat recipes that were in vanilla, then alchemy is a great money maker. IIRC, gift of arthas stacked with touch of weakness. Tailoring can be a good money maker as well, but potions are readily consumed. Flasks are extremely valuable, but extremely rare. I made good money selling major Mana potions and at the time, there were only a few other people on my server who had the recipe. I contacted the others and we all agreed not to undercut each other so we could keep the prices profitable. The recipe is not difficult to get, just a bit tricky if anybody here remembers

Depends how lucky and lazy you are! I did tailoring/enchanting in vanilla and never felt like it made me that much, since the nicest tailor patterns were BOP and I never got lucky enough to learn crusader when it was relevant. But I probably underestimated how many cheap strength and agility enchants I did in my lifetime.

I plan on having enchant / tailor on my mage. It will be on my 2nd account with any other characters i make being on the main account so i can give them ports and enchants. I do want to make a warrior my main at some point but i want to have some support built up for him first. Warrior was my 3rd 60 in vanilla and that seems like a good plan for classic as well.

Sounds silly, but again, just my play style. BUUUUUUUT, if you only plan on having 1 main and like maybe 2-3 toons only. I would go alchemy personally, then do tauren warrior with herbing and get them sweet 15 extra points.

Alchemy/Herb is my go to set for gold and to help leveling. Not only will herbs be a big gold bank for endgame, but so is alchemy with the many required pots and healing pots people buy. Also if you are a war you can ALWAYS have rage pots which are AMAZING

I plan on running BS, but mostly because I will be crafting armor for my guild. I did see some videos on what professions make money in classic and supposedly they are both viable as long as you put your time into getting the rare recipes that set you apart from everyone else.

This limited edition 400th Anniversary Classic Baseball Cap celebrates the origin of the secret Zildjian alloy. In 1618, Avedis I, an Armenian alchemist living in Constantinople, discovered a secret process for treating alloys and applied it to the art of maki ng cymbals of extraordinary clarity and sustain. This proprietary mix of copper, tin and silver is still used in Zildjian cymbals today. The alchemy symbols used in the design represent each of the metals in this secret alloy, arranged in the shape of a cymbal. This cotton hat has classic baseball cap styling and an adjustable snapback closure, making it the perfect fit for any drummer.

High level alchemy is spell that becomes available at level 55 Magic. High level alchemy converts an item into more coins than Low level alchemy would. Successfully casting this spell grants the player 130 Magic skill experience.

High level alchemy requires one Nature-Rune and 5 Fire-Runes to cast and for this reason it is recommended that players wield either a Staff of fire, Battlestaff of fire, or Enchanted Battlestaff of fire so that it only costs the player one Nature-rune.

Casting a single alchemy spell on stackable items such as certificates, runes, or arrows will consume the entire stack and produce coins for every item in the stack. This can be a dangerous feature, so be careful when casting alchemy spells that you do not accidentally click on any stackable item you wish to keep.

Alchemy is one of several crafting professions you can choose within WoW Classic! It concerns the creation of potions and elixirs, which will provide you offensive and defensive bonuses to aid in your gameplay. Alchemy requires the use of herbs, which can be found and gathered with the Herbalism profession in zones all across Azeroth. The higher level herbs used, the stronger the resulting potion will be.

Your combat elixirs are becoming quite powerful now, with the elixir of greater agility being no different. You can increase your agility for 25 for an hour, requiring level 38 to use. This makes them excellent for lower leveled characters and twinks. Craft 15 elixirs of greater agility so you can reach the next milestone of 265 Alchemy.

There are only two alchemy labs in the game. There is one in Scholomance, but there is also another in Blackwing Lair. Both of these alchemy labs will require you to form a group so you can kill the enemies guarding one, but this is often a weekly event that raiding guilds will schedule so flasks can be created for the entire raid group.
