I have a website, and I want to download all of the pages/links within that website. I want to do a wget -r on this URL.None of the links go "outside" of this specific directory, so I'm not worried about downloading the entire internet.

As it turns out, the pages I want are behind the password-protected section of the website. While I could use wget to manually do that cookie negotiation, it would be a lot easier for me to just "log in" from the browser and use some firefox plugin to recursively download everything.

DownThemAll seems like a cool suggestion. Can it do a recursive download? As in, download all of the links on the page, and then download all of the links contained within each of those pages, etc? So that I basically mirror the entire directory tree by following links? Kinda like the -r option of wget?

However, I too feel that DownThemAll is probably a good choice.
If you know what you want to mirror, selecting the right links should not be a problem.
And, you can always tick the 'All' checkbox.

The venerable Firefox Plugin "Video Download Helper" has been a mainstay of internet video downloading for years. However since I upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 it can not ever find the "Companion App" it needs to work.

But then in the plugin does not work (tried restarting firefox, reinstalling plugin, etc.). If you go into the plugin configuration, there's a Recheck button in the "Verifying Companion App..." section, but clicking it does not seem to do anything.

For me, the installation of firefox beta version via snap was the solution ( -for-testing-native-messaging-support-in-the-firefox-snap/29759).
In this version, you get native massaging support inside the firefox snap package.

I found over the weekend that there is also a "Download with Web Browser" option that can work instead of using the companion app. Just proceed as normal, when the download begins, a dialogue window will popup prompting you to download the helper. But next to this is a button marked "Download with Web Browser" (or suchlike). Just click that.

Extract the tar ball file to desktopOpen the README.md file in text editor, contains link and help"Installer executables for the various platforms are availablefrom the releases page." Lists versions and avail files

I managed to get the VDH supplement app working. The path was simple: I followed the instructions provided by VDH on the page with the download of the supplementary app, however I didn't install the .deb version (I didn't know how to start it) but the tar.gz "version".

Basically I followed the download instructions on different linux distributions, the two command lines you find on the site do all the rest. The file was downloaded in the Download folder and then after the first command it is extracted in the Home and becomes executable when necessary, the second command I don't know but execute it.

I have read the similar post for Chrome (how do i download/extract font from chrome developers tools) and I'm trying to do the same thing using Firefox instead. So I have opened the network panel fo dev tools and reloaded the page, then filtered for the actual GET 200 answer and I see content-encoding: gzip and content-lenght: 238214 all good.

Now if I open the answer panel instead the header i can copy/paste the answer as text stream but this is not even close to the above specified size. I tried to convert to gzip as specified using an online tool but the result was in any case a corrupted .gz file instead. Why it is not working with firefox? What am I doing wrong?

Note that you may need to reload the page without caching, i.e. by pressing Ctrl+F5 or disabling the cache via the Disable Cache option in the Network panel, in order to see the requests for the font files. This is because Firefox has a special font cache and it doesn't make any requests to the font files once they are cached.

What is the problem? Please be detailed.
Recently I have not been able to use xlsform online (since mid December) - I can upload a form but the frame does not reload to allow me to download (or give me the error message if the xlsx file has problems). Is this a problem with my settings for Firefox, or has something changed on your server?

What you have you tried to fix the problem?
Used Microsoft Edge and Explorer. This sort of works, but downloading the xml is problematic (I don't know how to save the xml from these browsers and end up cutting and pasting the link into firefox!)

Anything else we should know or have? If you have a test form or screenshots or logs, attach here.
I'm not usually as stupid as it looks like by this problem I suspect it's something really obvious that I am already staring at?

When I try to upload it using Edge there is a message saying that the content can't be displayed in a frame:
xlsform-screen-MS-Edge1280985 74.9 KB
But if I copy the link location and open with Firefox, it downloads the xml file!

Has multiple failures to download HAL package of about 100 MB to 500 MBfrom ST web. Firefox said failed, at about 20% progress bar. Saw same on multiple different packages. Seem it timeout on a non-fast internet.

Hello @David_ ,

Thanks for reporting this. We checked your cases and seems that you face issues due to slow internet connection. If the mobile network signal is lost, the download will fail. If the PC loses the hotspot connection, the download will fail.

All this is normal. We tried to reproduce the conditions by simulating a Regular 4G/LTE connection on Firefox and no issues were detected.

The only recommendation I have at this point is to use a stable internet connection and everything should be fine.

Let me know if you still have any questions.

Regards,
Lina

Many thanks. After previous failure, I updated firefox and rechecked it says latest. I click the "get latest" icon. Firefox show a normal updating progress bar for about 30 seconds then it showed failed. As it is (2) in file name, I did it three times and same result. This message is limited to FIRST three photos. I shall post the "Firefox Updated" in reply. On Win11.

I switched off pc. wait some time, re-power up. Repeat the download and same result. Note this is a slow internet link on phone. In the progress of making this project, the STM32CubeIDE has automatically updated itself to STM32CubeIDE, Version: 1.15.0, Build: 20695_20240315_1429 (UTC), updated ST-Link (both Nucleo F103 and F411) and did a lot of auto loading from ST on missing or outdated software components (show flashing file name on bottom right corner) and all went well for 2.5 GB data so far on the "auto download" carried out by the STM32CubeIDE. Many thanks

Looking in the Developer Control Panel in Firefox (F12), I see that, when the problem occurs, that the files have Status = 0, almost like the request was never sent to the server, but looking at the server the request is there.

Now when I access my test HTML, the javascript will reload the page until the error occurs, and then display an alert. This can take anywhere from a few seconds to five minutes, it usually happens within the first minute

Firefox will download the first few CSS files and then either seem to skip the rest, or skip 20-30-40 files and then try again, skipped files will have status 0nginx access log will say that it responded with either status 200 or 304, but firefox will never display that information

100 was just the number where the results were very easy and fast to reproduce, and so I went with 100 for the test package, to make it easier/faster for you guys to reproduce the problem for yourselves

I am going to open a new ticket, but I guess the fact that I can no longer drag and drop an image from a website into Gimp has the same problem. (A dragged image is saved in /tmp/dnd_file and then opened in Gimp, but the file is not written.)

Native messaging support is being added to the firefox snap. Can you test that extension with the snap in the beta channel? See Call for testing: native messaging support in the Firefox snap for instructions, and please share your observations there. Thanks!
