AHEADis a member association for professionals who work to foster equity in higher education. AHEAD serves students and their families indirectly by sharing resources and offering professional development to AHEAD members who work directly with students on their campuses.

We encourage students and parents to connect with our colleagues at:

We start with a multi-day pre-orientation that focuses on programming related to these five areas to better help students settle into their new college environment. Programming includes resume workshops, mock classes, identity activities, team building activities, campus resource sessions, Safe Zone training, and more. During this programming, AHEAD participants will connect with students taking part in International Student Orientation. Students arrive the Monday before New Student Orientation begins, allowing time to adjust and explore before their peers move in.

Program participants also get to interact with peer mentors, who are upper-year students ready to help give advice, informal tours, and more. Through the AHEAD Program, students start to confidently create their home-away-from-home in a new campus community. In mid June, students who qualify for the program will receive an email with more information and an invitation to register.

Through individualized treatment and education, Green Chimneys supports the growth and skill development of children through a therapeutic day school and residential treatment center. Make a difference in the lives of our students and animals with a gift to Green Chimneys

Green Chimneys School is designed for children who have been unsuccessful in a traditional educational setting. As a NYS-approved special education school, we offer a structured and therapeutic educational experience. Small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratio, well-trained clinicians and educators, and a safe, supportive school environment are just a few things that make Green Chimneys the right choice for many students with special needs.

Promise programs may have goals beyond promoting college attainment. This project focuses on programs with a goal of increasing higher education attainment. By offering the promise of a financial award to students who meet specified eligibility criteria, College Promise programs have the potential to promote educational attainment, especially among students who would not otherwise attend college.

To promote understanding of the design and structure of College Promise programs, we created an online searchable database of College Promise programs. Search the database to find programs with particular characteristics.

Why seven categories? College Promise programs vary in the nature of the promise, target population, eligibility requirements, and other characteristics. Variations in program design are not surprising given the likely benefits of adapting a program to meet the priorities, needs, and other characteristics of the local and state context. Variations in program design also reflect the trade-offs program designers must make when allocating finite resources to achieve different goals. In response to resource constraints, some programs, for example, may provide small average dollar awards to many students, whereas others offer larger dollar awards to fewer students.

We began the database in fall 2015, in partnership with the College Promise Campaign and with initial seed money from Civic Nation. Building on data collected by the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research and the College Promise Campaign, our research team conducted web searches for new programs and consulted other early College Promise websites (e.g., Cities of Promise) to capture data describing key components of College Promise programs operating nationwide.

This interactive map displays the administrative location of College Promise programs that are actively enrolling students. Search by state or program name to learn about program eligibility requirements, financial awards, and program services.

By studying sociology, I could better evaluate the way our society works in an effort to improve wherever I am stationed (organization-wise). In this type of engagement, experiences are pushed to be more than just a historical past, but a pattern to be analyzed. I am able to delve even further into its methodology for my sophomore tutorial class this fall.

Furthermore, my extracurricular activities began to revolve around finding new ways to help out under-resourced communities, which led me to the field of education. I began working with the Undergraduate Minority Recruitment program and the Harvard Ed Portal throughout the year, and I am now the Director of Online Education for a student-led nonprofit called the Fair Opportunity Project. These various activities specialized in youth programming and increasing information access to higher education. Instead of pursuing things for a resume fit for a government candidate, I was free to pursue the things I loved.

Although Colin cannot accompany me in this next step, I hope my modified goal makes him proud. It carries the spirit of why I wanted to become a diplomat in the first place: to make as many people happy as I can.

"I am a literacy professor and a big fan of Thoughtful Learning resources. In the courses I teach for in-service and pre-service teachers, I often share Thoughtful Learning resources for teaching writing and inquiry-based instruction. It's important for teachers to see quality resources that encourage deeper thought and promote learning in interactive and meaningful ways."

Think Ahead students are not required to cover the tuition cost for these courses, and may enroll in one credit bearing course each semester if seats are available on the first day of the semester. Registration is facilitated by the Director of Accommodative Services.

Educating Tomorrow's Lawyers conducted an evaluation of the Daniel Webster Scholar Honors Program at the University of New Hampshire School of Law to analyze the program's outcomes. The program is a collaboration between the law school, the state supreme court, and the state board of bar examiners, and provides a combination of experiential training and ongoing assessment; students are ultimately evaluated for bar admission based on their performance over the two-year program instead of sitting for the traditional two-day bar exam.
