The Mechanical Engineering of Wet-materials (MEOW) Lab (https://meow.wse.jhu.edu/) and Nauen Lab (https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/research/labs/the-nauen-lab) seek a talented and motivated scientist/engineer for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship. The fellowship can be extended to a 3rd year contingent on performance. The objective of the fellowship is to develop a platform to construct cellular microcircuits. The training is aimed at cultivating a productive career as an independent researcher. One or more skills listed in the following are desired:
a) Knowledge in optics to build a laser-based system for optical characterization of cells.
b) Coding ability to construct field-programmable gate array to allow rapid classification of cells.
c) Experience in soft matter to fabricate porous scaffolds for cushioning droplets on impact to maximize cell survival.
d) Experience with use of human induced pluripotent stem cells for generation of neurons.
MEOW lab is specialized in imaging and mechanobiology; Nauen lab is focused on human neuroscience. Johns Hopkins provides excellent research environment for bioengineering and clinical studies, with numerous resources to maximize post-doc career success.
