Hello everybody,

I am a new user to the Haption Virtuose (desktop version), and i'm actually having troubles making it communicate with my PC :
More specifically, there's a function that does establishes the link between my pc and the Virtuose, and that's where it doesn't work, although If i ping the robot, it works perfectly fine.

Do you have any ideas, or have you ever experienced a problem such as this one ?

Thank you in advance,

Takfarinas

Hi,

You mean virtopen() fails?
Firewall issue?

Dear Takfarinas,

Is your PC running Windows or Linux?

On Linux, you need to set the path to the VirtuoseAPI.dll, by doing “export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=…”.

On Windows, the DLL needs to be in the same folder as the executable, and it has to be the same architecture (win32 or x64).

If you have a recent Virtuose device, then the address for virtOpen is “localhost”, not the IP address of the device, since you want to connect to the haptic service.

Hello,

I am currenty running it on Linux, and yeah its the virtOpen function that seems to be the problem
So should I set the IP address to localhost as well ? Because I already tried to change it from the nodes I was trying to execute (test_admittance for ex) and I still have the virtOpen problem

Thank you for you fast answers,

Takfarinas

There can be several reasons for virtOpen to fail:

1. The shared library cannot be found

2. The device is not calibrated

3. The IP address is wrong

4. The driver is not running

If you give me more information about your setup (including the serial number of the device), I can help you more efficiently.

Jerome

Hello everyone,

Thank you for helping me concerning this question, indeed I had a problem in the virtOpen function and the solution was to change the IP address in the nodes you
want to test.

Thanks again !
