I once got onto a crowded Metra train headed downtown on a weekend. My
husband and I spotted an empty seat but when we got there we realized
that someone left their weekend pass and gloves on the seat. We moved
them and sat down thinking that that person was probably annoyed that
he left his things on the train. A man returned to the seat 5 minutes
later and lectured us on "train etiquette," letting us know that if
someone leaves their gloves on the seat that they are saving it. I
told him nicely that I would not recommend he continue this trend as
people would be likely to steal his things. He was slightly off in the
head so we ceased talking to him.Interesting conversation however. I
would say my tip would be, if you need to use the restroom, you
relinquish all rights to your seat and should bring everything with
you.
