Dear Rasika,
Sri Ramakrishnan Murthy presented a concert steeped in uncompromising classicism. True to his artistic ethos, he once again reaffirmed his deep commitment to tradition — a hallmark that has earned him a loyal audience who cherish his singing style and approach. This evening was no exception, as he captivated rasikas with thoughtfully chosen compositions and a rendition that was both engaging and deeply satisfying.
The concert reached greater heights thanks to two key factors. First, the accompaniments were truly outstanding. Sri Sayee Rakshit’s sensitive and imaginative responses on the violin earned him spontaneous applause for many of his phrases. On percussion, the duo of Sri N.C. Bhardwaj on the mridangam and Vazhapally Sri Krishnakumar on the ghatam were completely invested in the performance, infusing it with energy, precision, and joy, and lifting the overall experience several notches higher.
Equally vital was the second factor — the audience in spite of inclement weather, turned up in near full strength, listening intently, appreciating every nuance, and proving themselves to be discerning rasikas, whose encouragement and warmth inspired the entire team on stage.
