Dear Rasika,
Sri R.K. Shriram Kumar is perhaps the most fitting person to present a lec-dem on the legacy of Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar. Few can explore his compositions with such depth, bringing alive the context, meaning, and the creative process behind them. With his scholarship and clarity, he drew us into Dikshitar’s world so completely that three hours passed unnoticed.
There is still so much more to hear, and we look forward to many more such sessions from this maestro. He was supported by Kum. Amritha Murali on vocal, Sri Sandeep Ramachandran on violin, and Sri B.S. Prashanth on mridangam. We hope to share this treasure, with his permission, for the benefit of all rasikas.
