Dear Oliver,
Sorry I am writing late. The reason is that I am involved in Chinua Achebe's
funeral arrangement both as UNAA National President & as an executive
member of Ogidi Union. I am a native of Ogidi. Chinua Achebe would be buried
tomorrow in Ogidi. I am in Ogidi now.
I have discussed with Nze, we considered the time constraint you do have in US,
we therefore suggest, that Thursday preceding the convention be our arrival
date. Then Friday should be filled with activities such as guided tours
&/or visit to some important monuments, zoological gardens, some
educational/entertainment establishments or courtesy calls to some important
personalities or a just a picnic in a park or wood.
The Sunday after the convention we suggest that we have a kind of social
gathering of our members in US & members from Nigeria in a member's house in the
city/town of the convention where we could discuss more about our alma mater,
politics & other issues.
Let me say here sir, that all these will depend on the resources available to
you.
Regards,
Nwanne Chioke.

Subject: Ideas for Covention Agenda
Dear Nwanne, Nzete and Okey,
Dr. Okocha, the UNN-USA President, has asked me to liaise with you regarding how we can make your attendance at this year’s UNN-USA convention a more rewarding experience than in the past years. We are in the process of firming up our program agenda and would appreciate any suggestions you may have on what you would like to see on the agenda that will be of special interest to the UNAA attendees. Since you represent the current and past leadership of UNAA and are located in key areas of the country with active member participation to our conventions, kindly poll your members to see what would be of special interest to them during their trip. We are time constrained and, therefore, would appreciate your immediate response to this request.
Regards,
Oliver Ibe
My dear Oliver,
The security I have in mind is the security problem confronting Nigeria today.
You are well aware that emergency rule have been declared in Borno, Adamawa and
Yobe States. The Boko Haram insurgency in the
North, the spate of kidnappings in the South East and now Lagos State
is a worrisome situation. The security challenges are a threat to business in Nigeria. It is
about time we address these issues and see if there is a linkage between these
and youth unemployment.

Damian Okolo

Subject: RE: Seeking info
Dear Damian,
Dr. Okocha has informed me, per the email below, that you are interested in discussions on security during the upcoming UNN-USA convention. What exactly do you have in mind? Is it security at a personal level or with respect to business outfits/premises? These two types of security require different types of solutions. So, it would be helpful if you can expatiate on what you want.

Fellow Lions and Lionesses,
It is with great pleasure that I announce that the revised edition of my book “Markov Processes for Stochastic Modeling,” which was published by Elsevier Academic Press in 2009, came out yesterday. This brings the number of my books to 8: four in telecommunications and 4 in applied probability and stochastic processes. Incidentally, my editor bullied me into writing the 2nd edition that I did not plan to write. The book that I was working on and which will be published in September this year is titled “Elements of Random Walk and Diffusion Processes.” Because I had signed a contract with my other publisher John Wiley and did not want to be distracted from that contract, I was reluctant to engage in two book projects simultaneously. But my Elsevier editor smooth-talked me into the revision, which progressed with such a lightning speed that it came out before the Wiley book.
I owe all this accomplishment first and foremost to God, and then to the schools he let me pass through that prepared me to write with confidence and clarity: MIT, UNN and Government Secondary School Owerri. When I went to MIT, my only knowledge of probability was what Ms Grace Iwuorah taught us in a statistics class at UNN. I was so intimidated by the amount of probability required for my program of study in communications that I almost gave up if not for my wife who reminded me that the consequence of failure to get a degree at MIT that everybody knew I was coming to would be perpetual teasing by my people in my home town. They would award me the degree of VA, which means “visited America,” a label given to those who come to America and go home without a degree. So, at that point I made a decision to conquer my fear by studying hard to the point that I would be able to understand the subject well enough to write a book on it. To this end, I believe that I have now conquered my fear and the label VA will not be attached to me any more! Unfortunately, VA is now a label for people like me who have no sky scraper in the village! I think they did it on purpose to make sure that I am forever roped in! The measure of a successful trip to the US is no longer your educational accomplishment, but in how much money you make regardless of how you make it. So, just when I thought I had escaped the label, they came up with a new definition that will always apply to me! Any way, attached are the covers of the two books.
Regards,
Oliver Ibe
