Dear all,

during January 8-12, 2024, Dusit Ngoprasert, Ngumbang Juat and I will teach the following 5-day workshop at the King Mongkut’s University of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand: "Applied hierarchical modelling of species distribution and abundance with R packages unmarked and spOccupancy"

The workshop will cover static and dynamic occupancy and N-mixture models, occupancy models with species interactions, and distance sampling (all with unmarked) and spatial models of occupancy (with the new spOccupancy package).

Please see the attached flyer for more information about the course and for how to apply.

Best regards -- Marc

Hello,

I'm starting to get into the spOccupancy package - would this Google Group be the best place to ask questions related to 'spOccupancy'?
Is there any other group that has been created specifically for this package?
My searches online have yielded few results as the package is quite new.

Thank you

I'm not sure what to do about this -- if there isn't a specific group for that, I think maybe the best bet would be to post a question on the "hmecology" email list, certainly relevant I think.  As far as I'm concerned you can cross-post here, but if things get too far afield from unmarked we might have to disallow that in the future.

*** Three hierarchical modeling email lists ***
(1) unmarked (this list): for questions specific to the R package unmarked
(2) SCR: for design and Bayesian or non-bayesian analysis of spatial capture-recapture
(3) HMecology: for everything else, especially material covered in the books by Royle & Dorazio (2008), Kéry & Schaub (2012), Kéry & Royle (2016, 2021) and Schaub & Kéry (2022)

Dear Anubhav, Andy,

I also think that the HMecology list may be nearer to what spOccupancy is and does: e.g., Bayesian inference and complex random effects models.

Hello, this is definitely a course I am interested in, however, as I'm not living in Thailand, I'm wondering if it might be available to attend online?

Thanks,
Mike

Dear Mike

sorry, I don't think we have the options to run it as a hybrid.

How can one apply for a student grant? Also I just checked, the google form doesn't seem to be functional yet.
