Dear all,

Ken Kellner, Andy Royle and I will run an AHM workshop at what used to be the glorious Patuxent Wildlife Research Center in Laurel, MD, during 17-21 July 2023. We will show how to use likelihood and Bayesian methods to fit a large range of models that are useful for investigations of abundance and occupancy. Planned topics include:
  • Occupancy models for binary detection/nondetection data
  • Binomial N-mixture models for replicated count data
  • Multinomial N-mixture models for replicated capture-recapture data
  • Distance sampling models for a variety of distance sampling protocols
  • Modeling of false positives
  • Integrating multiple data types and integrated models

Please send your application to Andy Royle (aro...@usgs.gov), with CC to marc...@vogelwarte.ch and kell...@msu.edu, and describe your background and knowledge in statistical modelling, R and JAGS/Nimble, and occupancy/Nmix models, by 30 April 2023.

You find some more information in the attached flier.

Best regards --- Marc, Ken and Andy

Dear Marc,

Do you also intend to organize the same training in Europe (Switserland) later this year?
I'm convinced there are plenty of people in Europe also interested in following a similar training.

many greetings from Belgium

Dear Jim,

thanks for the interest. Would love to, but I guess for this year we're workshopped-out.

Best regards  -- Marc

Dear all,

Great workshop!
Agree with Jim, I'm also one of those interested in a hypothetical European one.

Best regards
Pablo
