See announcement below - postdoc opportunity to work on spOccupancy, spAbundance, and unmarked!
------
The Statistical Ecology and Forest Science Lab led by Jeff Doser in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources at North Carolina State University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in Statistical Ecology Software Development. The position is part of an NSF-funded project to advance software capacity for the statistical analysis of AI-processed ecological data from automated sensors (e.g., camera traps, acoustic recording units). The researcher will work with Jeff Doser and Krishna Pacifici at NC State and Ken Kellner at Michigan State University to develop new modeling functionality in the Ecoverse collection of R packages (unmarked, spOccupancy, spAbundance) including state-of-the-art false positive occupancy/abundance models, coupled-classification models, and continuous time occupancy models.
We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in quantitative/statistical ecology, statistics, or a related field. Strong candidates will have extensive expertise in R software and hierarchical Bayesian modeling. Experience working with camera trap and/or acoustic data is desired. This is a 2-year position located in Raleigh, North Carolina with an annual salary of $72,000. The position start date is September 1, 2026. To apply, applicants should email a 1-2 page cover letter describing research experience and goals, CV, and names/contacts of 3 references to Jeff Doser (jwd...@ncsu.edu).
