Thanks to Rob and his colleagues, our next meeting will be in the
Herztein reading room in Zimmerman at noon on the 8th of December.
That's on the second floor and a projector will be available. It would
be great to spend the majority of time at this meeting showing
projects and ideas on the screen. We've been working so hard on the
proposals, we haven't had time to do this!
We will need to spend a few minutes finalizing our general proposals
(due Dec 15th). To keep this to a minimum, please add any text to our
working google document before the meeting. The docs are linked to
this group, but let me know if you have trouble accessing them.
Just to summarize from the last meeting:
Our plan is to submit 3 proposals:
1] a teaching allocation grant proposal to host OS experts
2] a proposal for an 'open source day' sponsored by OSET in the
Spring
3] a proposal for a 'sandbox lab' demonstration space
Members also planned to showcase their projects at the February OSET
event, to share expertise and to build excitement about the proposed
Spring open source day. Possible presentation proposals we discussed
were:
1] Change of Venue: Converting a closed journal to an open journal for
the UNM Law School - Kevin Comerford
2] Teaching Students about Open Data - Steve Koch and Rob
3] Health Sciences and Open Source - John Eldridge
These and other people who would like to present at the OSET event in
February should submit those directly by the Dec 15th deadline, but
don't forget to include that it is part of the 'OSLC' initiative to
help build momentum for what we are doing.
Yours;
Andrea
