Dear OSLC members;

First, we would like to hold our next meeting this coming Tuesday,
January 18th at 4PM in the Herztein Reading room located in Zimmeran
Library. Hope you can make it and looking forward to catching up with
everyone!

Second, Chris, Kevin, Johann and I have been working on a possible
interdisciplinary RAC proposal (deadline Jan 21st) for the Sandbox Lab
(see the TAG proposal on our Google Docs page), and would like to ask
interested OSLC members to send in some material for this proposal
prior to our meeting on the 18th. Since a lab like this would serve a
variety of research needs, could you send a paragraph about what
research you could see completing using this lab? Specifically, what
are some research outcomes in your discipline that the Sandbox lab
could help you achieve?

Third, great news that OSLC members Jon Eldredge and Kevin Comerford
will be presenting their work with open source/open access at the
annual Success in the Classroom event on February 16th! Save the date
and invite your colleagues and students.

Yours;

Andrea

I would use this space as a workshop space for developing place-based games and other learning content for mobile devices. This would involve a meeting space for both local and distributed teams (video conferencing), and a working space for students. The open-source software I use and contribute to is described and hosted at arisgames.org, and an example of its use is a murder mystery for UNM Spanish 202 students called Mentira (mentira.org).
