“Be the Roots of Change”
Join us and be a valuable change in someone’s life by being a part of our community empowering volunteer initiatives in rural Nicaragua. Then venture out to climb volcanoes, go spear fishing, swim with dolphins and sharks, and get certified for scuba diving in the Caribbean. GIVE or (Growth International Volunteer Excursions) is looking for volunteers to uplift communities while, exploring the Pacific and Caribbean coasts of Central America.
Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere, 30% of the population cannot read or write, and the average student goes to school for only 5 years. GIVE is dedicated to creating opportunities for community development and personal growth through education and various infrastructure and environmental conservation projects.
GIVE is looking for volunteers to build a secondary school, establish large-scale fresh water projects providing 12,000 indigenous people with fresh water, and help teach English to children.
Volunteers will also be working directly with organizations focused on important conservation projects to protect the Hawksbill and Leatherback turtle population as well as the local caiman and crocodile populations.
As a GIVE volunteer you will be exposed to two culturally distinct sides of Nicaragua, from the small fishing villages on the Pacific coast to the Jamaican and Creole influenced Caribbean islands. After 8 days of volunteering on the Pacific coast we will travel to remote islands in the Caribbean for a week of scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, fishing, and building relationships with the local Creole community. Snorkeling and scuba diving off these islands is some of the best in the world, with a diverse ecosystem of fish, corral, and mammal wildlife, including dolphins, turtles, and hammerhead sharks. And as a volunteer you can receive your PADI scuba certification.
In addition volunteers will have the opportunity to read to, and teach the local children on the island, and participate in an interactive seminar where you provide your own input on our projects!
