Looking Back...

Division 28 Key Club Joint DCM
 July 17, 2013
 10:00am - 12:00pm

With members of Circle K International led by our Kiwanis Family Chair, Adam Madamba, we had attended the Division 28 Key Clubs joint DCM. There we were given the opportunity to  share what Circle  K international was all about. From the infrastructure to member experiences we were able to recruit  Key Club members in hopes to someday become future Circle K'ers.
Presidents Retreat
July 19, 2013 - July 21, 2013

Project Angel Faces
July 20, 2013
5:00am - 1:00pm

Project Angel Face was created by a former Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America. His mission was to save New Vista Ranch. With a scarce amount of ranchers, he needed help, so he called upon volunteers. At the New Vista Ranch, we had helped in building compost bins to create natural plant nutrition. Along with that we had gone out and cleared out a packed barn along with a shed. Although this was manual labor intensive it was a fun experience at end.
Beat The Heat
July 20, 2013
11:00am - 12:00pm

As temperatures keep rising, death tolls of children and pets are also rising. The difference between the two, one can easily be prevented. To tackle on this issue, the Kiwanis Family had partnered with the Henderson Fire and Police Department. We had distributed ribbons reminding the community to check your seats before exiting your car and also, checking the vehicles around them. We hope that this will make drivers more aware of their passengers so we can completely diminish the death tolls. Remember to spread the word. Always "Check your seat in the heat"
Chef For A Day
July 20, 2013
3:00pm - 7:00pm

Chef For a Day is a dinner program held by Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House is a program that houses families that travel to find better medical care for their children. While the families are residing there, Ronald McDonald House offers a program in which volunteers come in to cook them dinner while testing their culinary knowledge. How fun right? Well this time Circle K International had collaborated with Las Vegas Young Professionals in creating a wonderful four meal course. The menu consisted of:
  • Tater Tots
  • Peas and Carrots
  • Sloppy Joe
  • Apple Strudel

Clean The World
July 23, 2013
9:00am - 2:00pm

Clean The World is our weekly service opportunity. What Clean The World is able to do is crucial. Over three million children die each year because of lack in something as simple as soap. Clean The World is a Non-Profit organization that takes in recycled soap and recycles along with cleanses and creates new bars of soaps for distribution. Now where do we come in? With the millions of soap that is being dropped off at the warehouse, volunteers assist in the sorting and organizing of the soap. We separate bars from liquids and then after we scan through to see which of the bottled soaps, shampoos, conditioner, and lotions are still usable.
