Lea Michele will be out of tonight's (August 29, 2023) 7pm performance of Funny Girl as she is under the weather, per an announcement from the production. Julie Benko will be performing this evening as Fanny Brice.

Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight 2 features the return of the original movie's "final girl" Zosia but commits a common slasher sequel mistake with the character. Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight 2's Zosia comes from a long line of final girls, which is one of the horror genre's most common tropes. It's particularly prevalent in slasher movies, with Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode from Halloween or Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott being two of the most famous examples. A final girl is usually a teenager who is the last survivor among her friends and must use her own wits and inner strength to survive.
If a slasher movie becomes successful, it's highly unusual for the original final girl to stick around for every sequel. Neve Campbell's Scream heroine is a very rare exception, with the actress playing a leading role in every entry to date. Jamie Lee Curtis has also jumped back and forth, returning for 1981's Halloween 2, then again for parts 7 and 8, and most recently for Halloween 2018. In some cases, sequels will bring back final girls just to die. This was the fate of Friday The 13th final girl Alice, who survived the original movie only to die almost immediately in Friday The 13 Part 2.
While Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight 2's final girl Zosia is, in essence, dead from this point, she instead becomes the main villain. In one sense, the sequel has a playful time subverting cliches and she even delights in her newfound powers. She also infects and falls in love with young officer Adam and plans to start an apocalypse with him. Regardless of this twist, it's still a depressing outcome, considering the hell Zosia went through in the original.
Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight 2 also ends with her being killed after she's run over - multiple times - by special forces vehicles. If a third movie happens, Adam will likely be the new lead. In one sense, Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight 2 wins points for trying something radically different from the first entry, but it's still a pity another slasher sequel had to essentially undo the final girl's victory just to keep the story going.
I know the song is meant to be about a girl who lost her best friend, but I interpreted it a different way. I interpret the lyrics as a girl talking to her younger, depressed self or just her depression in general that's recently started popping up again in her life.
On the downside for Jess, her dad shows up tonight with a new girlfriend, who turns out to be Jess and Cece's high-school rival. On the upside, her dad is played by Rob Reiner. That has to count for something.
Many of you will be watching The Voice (8 ET/PT) tonight, which is in the middle of its best segment, the blind auditions. When it's over, you could just stay on NBC and watch Chicago Fire. Or you could reach for the remote, which is what I would do.
