Our DBA asked me to investigate queries to this table, ongoingcheck,
and I wanted to verify some information. Is the only purpose for this
table to generate the date listings that determine which days in the
month widget should be marked as having an event?

I only ask because locally I've went ahead and removed ongoingcheck
from the database completely after I rewrote how the findOngoingEvents
method on MonthWidget works. I'm not seeing any breakage, but wasn't
sure if this was used in some place we don't utilize.

Also, would these changes be of interest for merging back to the UNL
code? Are there instructions somewhere that I missed for contributing
back to UNL?

Yep, that's its sole purpose.

A patch attached to an issue would be great -
