I’m interesting in helping to add JSON format to UNL_UCBCN_Frontend.

I’m looking at version 0.8.1 and seeking to understand how you’ve built the abstractions to handle the different cases.  I’m looking for phpdocs and a little guidance to understand how e.g. ICS format works, from entering the program to the echo.

If you would give me a few pointers to get started, I’d much appreciate it.

I would suggest you set up a custom template directory where you place all your own .tpl.php files, then pass a 'template' parameter to the options for the frontend). This will tell the output controller to look inside your custom template directory first, then fall back on the default directory for any files you've omitted.
