Tim Federle, the showrunner of High School Musical: the Musical: the Series, is teasing the final episodes of the hit Disney+ series. In the video, Troye and Ariana perform and dance along to the song in front of a seemingly disinterested audience. Despite the sleepy and bored reactions of those watching the performance, the pair of musical friends have the time of their lives, and take a few moments during their duet to pay homage to Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez. As pointed out by fans on Twitter, and confirmed by Troye, the video has the pair doing their best HSM impressions.
Along with the influence of the beloved DCOM, Troye revealed the other musical inspirations for the video, tweeting, "The DTT vid was inspired literally by High School Musical and Grease and Pass This On by the Knife and a gif of Cher spinning around that i cant find rn."
The musical introduces young learners to basic space-science concepts in an engaging and non-intimidating way while also promoting creativity and offering students many ways to express themselves. The lessons encourage students to develop critical-thinking and decision-making skills. Performing the musical gives students opportunities for teamwork, collaboration and sharing their learning.
Rodrigo's cheerleader uniform in "Good 4 U" is an exact replica of Lana Thomas' outfit in the 2001 coming-of-age movie The Princess Diaries. Portrayed by Mandy Moore, Lana is the archetypal "Mean Girl," someone who theoretically be friends with Rodrigo's character in her 2021 music video. Not only does Lana correlate with Lana Del Rey, but the schoolgirl theme in "Good 4 U" also seems like a callback to the iconic 1999 Britney Spears music video "Baby One More Time."
I had an amazing experience at AMDA! I was very fortune to have the teachers I did, like Mark Riherd, Elaine Petricoff, Ray Virta, Mark Santoro, Evan Pappas, Jay Dias and Igor Goldin. The combination of all of them really helped push me to new levels. They challenged me, which made me in turn want to try harder and prove to them that I could do it! Also having the school in the city really gave me the upper hand to jump start me into this industry. When I graduated from AMDA I walked away with an agent and the knowledge of what I have to do in an audition, and after, to book the job.
Another perk is all of the press and celebrities who have come to see the show. We've had Vanessa Williams, David Hyde Pierce, Penny Marshal, Jerry Zaks, and casting agents from Telsey and other high profile agencies. The exposure alone with this project has been unbelievable.
