Rafal's background is analytical and biological chemistry. He did his PhD and postdoctoral research in single-cell proteomics at Imperial College London, UK. He was an editor at Genome Biology before joining Scientific Reports in August 2016.
Anam joined Scientific Reports in October 2023 after working for four years at Communications Biology. She completed her PhD in nanomedicine from Middlesex University and has experience in nanoparticles design and applications. She is based in London office.
Akila joined Scientific Reports in September 2022 after working for four years with BMC Series Journals as a Senior Editor. She has a PhD in Microbiology from University of Aberdeen, UK and worked as an EMBO postdoctoral Fellow at Instituto Gulbenkian de Cincia, Portugal. Over her eleven years in research, she worked on understanding telomere biology and has experience in cell, molecular and developmental biology.
Silvia joined Scientific Reports in March 2021, after being a Research Fellow at the University of Sussex for 5 years. She obtained her PhD in Physics at Heriot-Watt University, UK; her research was in semiconductor detector physics.
Joo has a background in biodiversity and population genetics from the University of Porto, Portugal. He joined Scientific Reports in 2021 after completing a PhD on the evolution of the dinosaur hand at the Natural History Museum and University College London. His interests include palaeontology, functional morphology, biomechanics, phylogenetics, ecology and biodiversity.
Thomas studied Biochemistry and completed his PhD in Germany. During this time, he worked with Xenopus laevis frogs to understand the regulation of the cell cycle. He joined the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK as a postdoc where he started to work with mouse oocytes. This experience made him fall in love with microscopy and he subsequently decided to work on centrosome biology in human cells, focusing on protein interactions and ubiquitylation. Thomas joined Scientific Reports in October 2022.
Shelby joined Scientific Reports in June 2024 as a Locum Associate Editor after her PhD in Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Nottingham. Her research was primarily focused on the genetics and mechanisms underlying the vitamin D axis in skeletal muscle and, as such, her interests lie in human physiology and metabolism, functional genetics, endocrinology, and ageing. She is based in the London office.
Will joined Scientific Reports in November 2022 after completing a post-doctoral position at UCL investigating the genetics of clathrin-mediated membrane trafficking. He also has a background in immunology and transplantation genetics following his PhD at Anthony Nolan Research Institute.
Jessica Mengqian Luo joined Scientific Reports in January 2024 after working for over a year with Collection Management & Acquisition Team as a Commissioning Editor. She completed her PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and worked on protein trafficking and autophagy. She is based in Shanghai office.
Betty did a PhD in Cognitive Science at Macquarie University and then worked in academia for 10 years: she was a Marie-Curie Experienced Researcher at Bangor University, a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at Royal Holloway, University of London, and a Research Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and the University of Gttingen. Before joining Scientific Reports in March 2023, Betty was an Associate Editor at the BMC Series.
Martyna joined Scientific Reports in February 2023 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at cole Polytechnique Fdrale de Lausanne, where she developed novel, information theoretical metrics for assessing perceptual uncertainty in human and animal models of hallucinations. She completed her PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London in June 2022. Her interests include man-machine interfaces, cognitive neurotechnology, computational neuroscience, and bio-inspired engineering solutions.
Rachel joined Scientific Reports in December 2022 and is based in the Washington DC (USA) office. She completed a Ph.D. in Oncological Sciences at the University of Utah studying epigenetic misregulation in colorectal cancer, after which she studied the tumor microenvironment and drug resistance at the University of Arizona Cancer Center.
Ins obtained her PhD from Universidade Nova in Lisbon (Portugal), after which she worked as a postdoc at the Freie Universitt Berlin and the Potsdam University (Germany). She has a background in epigenetics, plant development and plant environmental interactions. She joined Scientific Reports in May 2022 and is based in the Berlin office.
Chenyu Wang joined Scientific Reports in 2022 after working as a postdoctoral fellow in Los Alamos National Lab for 4 years. He completed a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry at SUNY-Binghamton, USA, focusing on leveraging crystal growth knowledge to tailor the structure/properties of nanomaterials. Chenyu specializes in heterogeneous catalysis, material sciences, and energy-related applications. In particular, he finds fulfillment in interacting with researchers and providing quality author experience.
Junxia joined Scientific Reports in 2024, and is based in Beijing, China. She completed her PhD at Xiamen University in July 2021, devoted in developing highly efficient molecular evolution platforms, followed by two years of postdoctoral work on pharmaceutical mRNA vaccines delivery at Zhejiang University. Her interest includes biotechnology, analytical chemistry, biomedical engineering, and pharmaceutical science.
Satej joined Scientific Reports in September 2023 after working as a Project Scientist at CSIR-CSMCRI. He has a PhD in Biosciences from Central University of Punjab, India, with expertise in phycology and molecular biology
Shital joined Scientific Reports in August 2023 after working for two years with the ADIS Insight Drug Team as a senior scientific and medical writer at Springer Nature. She holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Amravati University and has previously contributed to a project with the Defense Research and Development Organization, India. Her expertise lies in nanobiotechnology, mycotoxins, and clinical research.
Madhumita has a background in cancer biology and completed her doctoral studies from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, India. Her interest lies in clinical studies, bioinformatics, and cell biology. She joined the journal in 2023.
Mrigyanka has a PhD in Ophthalmic Genetics from Tezpur University in Assam, India, working on Keratoconus. After this, she moved to the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (West Bengal, India) for a short-term project on utilization of cutting-edge sequencing technologies in diagnosis of rare diseases. She joined Springer Nature as a Manuscript Editor for Scientific Reports in January 2023 and is based in Pune, India.
Shreyas has a Ph. D in Plant Science, with specialization in Plant insect interaction and Chemical ecology, from Department of Botany S.P. Pune University, Pune. He joined Scientific reports in March 2024 and is based at the Pune office.
Githa joined Scientific Reports in May 2023, after working for five-years as a Scientific Analyst at Molecular Connections, India. In this role, she curated databases related to biomedicine, including biomarkers and clinical trial records. She holds a PhD in Marine Sciences from the Cochin University of Science and Technology, India, where her research focused on pioneering tools utilizing marine fish cell lines. These tools are pivotal for diagnosing viral infections and developing vaccines within the aquaculture sector.
Alakananda is a diatomist. She joined Scientific Reports in 2023 with five years of experience in science communication and a PhD in wetland biomonitoring. Her interests include ecological assessment of water bodies, diatom culturing, and biodiversity.
Mahesh has a background in oleaginous fungi and fatty acid-based biofuels. He did a PhD in microbiology at the S. P. Pune University in India, followed by working with biotech start-ups and postdoctoral research at the Universidad de Concepcin, Chile. He joined Scientific Reports in September 2023 and is based in the Pune office.
Sumedha joined Scientific Reports in December 2022 after completing a post-doctoral position at Commissariat l'nergie atomique et aux nergies alternatives (CEA), Fontenay-aux-Roses, France. She completed her PhD from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. Her area of research has been biochemistry, bacterial genetics, microbiology with a focus of understanding DNA-protein molecular machineries in a human pathogen Helicobacter pylori. Currently, she is based in Pune, India.
Supriya joined Scientific Reports in December 2022 as a Manuscript Editor after 4 years within Springer Nature, working with Nature Research Journals and Transfer Desk team. She has a PhD in Physical Sciences from Shivaji University and worked as Dr. D. S. Kothari postdoctoral fellow at S.P. Pune University, India with a background in nanomaterials with applications in the energy sector. She is based in Pune, India.
Sneha joined Scientific Reports in September 2023 following her brief post-doctoral study at Agharkar Research Institute in Pune, where she examined the characteristics of probiotics with potential applications in industry. She received her Doctorate in Microbiology from the same university and is an expert in the field of Renewable Energy.
