Hey so i had a lot of performance issues on my laptop so my friend gave me a custom iso which had a few services turned off i just want to ensure before installing that is it legal(windows is activated)

We are in the official Microsoft Community, so I can expect an official response from employees or the Community Manager, this topic is important and requires a broader answer - so that there are no threats and legal problems!

Playing games on windows is not a new thing. Gamers play games on windows from the start . At this time also gamers play video games on windows computers. But windows are very heavy for low end pc. That time some group of people customize the windows for low end pc gamer for better gaming experience. In this guide we know about the top 3 best windows Custom OS for gaming . Using this Custom windows OS increases Frames per second (FPS) and also increases the user experience .

Atlas OS is the most optimized Windows custom OS . When you install the atlas os for the first time you see a massive performance boost in gaming .We noticed that FPS lows in VALORANT much improved. Having a higher and more stable framerate 217.5 FPS to 365.91 FPS. also i see that atlas os using ram and cpu very minimal.

GGOS is a command windows custom OS for gaming but this GGOS has so many problems. When you go to the GGOS discord server to download the ISO file problem starts from there . They may be Kicked you from their server . Next problem started after installing the OS on your system. You may face a blue screen.

Downloading GGOS you need a discord account . You may not have a discord account. Making a discord account is very easy. Go to the discord website and make an account. After making a discord account join GGOS discord server find the download option to download GGos ISO.

Overall, this 3 Windows Custom OS is a highly optimized Windows custom OS for gaming, this custom OS similar in terms of performance. However, it lacks the same level of community support. To download and install this kind of custom OS .

The multi-institutional prospective study evaluated the behavior of pure GGOs (85%), heterogeneous GGOs (part solid only on CT lung windows; 7%), and part-solid GGOs on soft-tissue windows. Among pure GGOs, 6.6% advanced to one of the other categories during a mean follow-up period of 4.3 years. Of the 35 pure GGOs that were resected, none was an invasive cancer. Invasive adenocarcinoma was identified in only 1% of all nodules, and only among the part solid nodules.

There are TONS and I mean legitimately TONS of Windows components, services, and apps that you will never use or touch but which are sitting idly in the background consuming your precious CPU cycles that could be otherwise dedicated to increasing your FPS and reducing your input lag.

A custom Windows 10 ISO does not mean that magically you will now have 300FPS instead of 30 in your games. You are still bottlenecked by your hardware but a cleaner and slimmer Windows install will give your hardware the leeway to spend more time on your game instead of running Windows services.

Before installing any custom Windows 10 ISO do your research and figure out what components are missing and what issues are known to happen with these custom installs. Usually, this means scrolling through all of the Discord channels of the said custom Win 10 install and looking in the support chats, etc.

There will be a lot of troubleshooting and figuring things out involved in the process of fully setting up your custom ISO after install so if you are not ready to do that, or are afraid/too lazy to install the ISO again in case something breaks fully then this is NOT a good idea for you. There will be one custom Windows ISO that is generally 99.9% as stable as a normal build so I would recommend you go with that and nothing beyond it (Ghost Spectre).

Another important aspect of knowing which custom ISO to get and which ones you should stay away from is directly related to how old the custom build is. The general rule of thumb is that the older the Windows build the better the latency will be since you will benefit from fewer services, telemetry, and no Meltdown/Spectre patches.

At the same time, the older the build, the fewer components it will have resulting in a lot of services you currently use being broken or unusable. Most custom Windows 10 installs are based on the following builds: 1709, 1809, 21H1/21H2.

The main recommendation is to stay away from 1709 (FoxOS, RekOS, EVA) builds if you have no clue about custom Windows installs or simply do not want to troubleshoot basic issues that might arise from these builds missing components you might otherwise use. If you however are comfortable with troubleshooting and dealing with problems then these builds will result in the best latency and inputs you can currently get.

This is a complex question because each ISO tends to favor different games and different hardware as shown in this video made by Derek, therefore, your decision should be purely based on your personal testing.

Another great idea is to check The World of PC Discord channel called kevs-w10-charts where you have a handy thread made by Kev. He spent quite a lot of time so I would encourage you to join the Discord and take a look at his findings regarding which custom Windows 10 ISOs performed the best in his testing.

Outside of the post-install procedures trying to further tweak the ISO usually results in complete failure and the need to reinstall the ISO. Unlike older builds (1709/1809) that are tweaked for the sake of latency, these newer builds work with a lot more modern services and software and usually cause fewer issues with incompatibilities. (My second recommendation for newer people to tweaking would be ggOS).

You should make your individual decision based on what games you play (it seems that different ISOs impact FPS differently for games), are you aiming for max FPS and smoothness or minimum input lag (usually tweaks to decrease input lag affect FPS stability negatively), and how much are you ready to troubleshoot (older builds 1709/1809 miss compatibility with certain newer software).

Custom Windows ISO enjoyer, FPS optimizer, and aim improvement enthusiast. Will disassemble all of his peripherals (and sometimes PC parts) to mod them even if all of them work perfectly fine. Discord/Twitter: vile_is_dead

Hey, your laptop should be fine running 1803 but be careful because certain games require 1809 or higher to use voice chat and other features (Phasmophobia requires Windows 2004 for voice recognition drivers)

Hi. RekOS for me had the same latency as FoxOS 1709 but with a lot more crashing and overall weirdness. I am currently using FoxOS 1709 and after the initial setup process and tweaking the install has been solid.

Hi. No clue to be honest, but generally speaking, audio performance is better the better pc works, so usually lower DPC latency = better audio responsiveness. Custom windows builds focus on performance and usually result in lower dpc latency (latencymon) meaning your audio performance should also be better. So, any of the custom isos would be fine as long as the software for audio work is supported by the ISO.

Windows is by far the biggest patchwork software on the planet. No other product is tinkered with as much. Due to the basic structure of the system, Windows will always have problems with security, performance, and stability. The only reason I use it is for games. I hope that Valve, with their SteamOS, and all the other Linux developers, will soon be ahead of the game in this regard.

I personally do not like Win 11 that much, that is why I tend to stick to older Win 10 builds, but for testing purposes I might dual boot some Win 11 custom builds to see how they run. Thank you for your suggestion!

I have tried and used ggOS for a long time. It is a fantastic custom ISO for people that want decent compatibility and better performance. I simply prefer older builds like 1709/1803/1809 for Windows.

It depends on your needs. ggOS has been dead for a while now so if Atlas is still getting updates I would assume Atlas would be better. To be fair you would just need to test both and see which one you like more.

For a low-end build I would use an older build of Windows like 1709, 1803, or 1809. These generally have the least amount of unnecessary things running. If you want a new build and are choosing between Atlas and ggOS you should probably use Atlas since it has been updated more. ggOS is still very much usable and is simple in terms of installation.

For large scale fps games like Arma and Squad.. What is the best? XOS has been bad for me in both squad and valorant. GGOS was good. Someone told me that ReviOS is the way, its a CPU intensive game anyways

I think the idea is good but I am pretty sure any custom ISO would most likely brick most of the functionality on that device. Laptops in general are not the best when it comes to custom Windows installs, and you also are looking at a model with touchscreen functionality etc. If you do want to get a custom ISO I think you need to do extra research, otherwise I would just run a default install and strip it manually to not accidently lose any functionality I would need.

What I meant is that a lot of custom ISOs outright dont support trackpads, bluetooth, wi-fi, touchscreens, etc. Those are all core functionalities of the laptop you are looking at so I was just concerned that once you install a custom ISO your device might become unusable until you flash a normal Windows install.

Note: This is an early access release for advanced users. If you are not
comfortable with installing windows, updating drivers, using the device
manager, changing the registry, or debugging on your own, do not install it.

I was having a really lazy lunch the other day eating hard boiled eggs and Takis Fuego chips. As I was crunching away an idea came to me. That idea is the foundation of this instructable and that idea was what would it taste like if you combined deviled eggs and Takis Fuego chips. From that lazy lunch this culinary adventure began. So come along with me if your taste buds are adventurous and you want to send them on the spicy adventure that is Takis FuEggos.
