We are currently looking for a Sr. ETL Developer to join our IT team based in Reston, VA.  Reporting to the Manager, Application Projects, the Sr. ETL Developer will be responsible for collaborating to design, create, and maintain the ETL architecture of the Enterprise Data Warehouse environment to adequately support our business needs as well as provide technical leadership to applicable staff for design, development, quality analysis, implementation and maintenance of projects using Web Methods and Java technologies. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Collaborates with the appropriate individuals regarding Data Warehouse development/enhancement projects.

•Provides technical support, guidance and advice to applicable staff and department members.

•Leads small projects from concept through post implementation.  Teams may consist of both IS and user personnel.

•Recommends implements and maintains the Data Warehouse application architecture to adequately support business needs.

•Reviews new Data Warehouse related technologies and makes recommendations to improve the companies warehousing environment.

•Collaborates with appropriate individuals to analyze hardware and software interfaces and implements recommendations for optimizing systems resource usage.

•Designs, codes, tests, debugs, configures and documents Data Warehouse systems and ETL mappings.

•Diagnoses and works with the appropriate individuals to resolve Data Warehouse development and system problems.

•Generates and distributes reports pertaining to assigned responsibilities.

•Regularly evaluates processes and makes recommendations to improve efficiency.

•Complies with all corporate and departmental policies/procedures and applicable governmental regulations.

•Attends and participates in meetings that pertain to assigned responsibilities.

•Other duties and responsibilities as assigned, which may include cross-utilization within the department or with other departments

Education:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

Work Experience:

•4+ years of Data Warehousing experience required including small project management as well as hands on application development with Informatica.

•Experience with Oracle databases preferred.

•Exposure to Business Objects preferred.

•Strong analytical, problem solving, and production diagnostic skills.

Job Skills:

•Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing solutions, including reporting tools, ETL tools, and relational database design and implementation strategies

•Ability to apply standard warehousing techniques to design and build warehouse architectures that optimize these key components:  report performance, performance of nightly updates, data quality, data availability, flexibility for ad-hoc requests (detail and summary), and reusability of database and ETL components

•Knowledge of MS Office Suite required

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and solve problems in a timely and accurate manner

•Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously 

•Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate to management, peers and customers as well as demonstrate sound judgment/reasoning skills

•Must have the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

•Must possess good organizational skills

•Strong technical written and verbal communication in English

•Minimal travel of about 10%
