Dear Guilders,
This February is slam-packed full of fun, fresh, freaky (yay for alliteration) activities for you to partake in.  Please see the items below and let us know if you're interesting in participating...or just show up.  In an effort to decrease the amount of memory storage space you'll need for our events, we are having two-thirds of them on the same day, February 12th.  Hope to see you there!

**1. First Meeting of the Semester, Thursday 2/12 at 4:15pm Room 10**
**2. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered Rights Awareness Table, Thursday 2/12 9-4pm**
**3. Chicago Republic Workers Speaking Tour, Thursday 2/12 at 5:30pm Downtown Buffalo (Rides will be provided)**
**4. Progressive Law Conferences This Month**
**5. Students Day Against Death Penalty, March 2**

**1. First Meeting of the Semester, Thursday 2/12 at 4:15pm Room 10**
Here we will be outlining our agenda for the semester which includes another tour of Buffalo non-profits with the goal of creating internship/volunteer opportunities, holding a series of speakers to discuss issues in Western NY, and...(insert YOUR own idea here).

**2. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered Rights Awareness Table, Thursday 2/12 9-4pm**
We will be having a table in O'Brian Lobby to get out awareness for LGBT rights.  Our focus will be on repealing the US military "Don't Ask/Don't Tell" policy, creating support for same-sex marriage, and expanding Hate Crime Statues to include the Matthew Shepard Act.  If you are interested in helping out, please e-mail Luke Sharman at lsha...@buffalo.edu and indicate the times you would be able to be at the table.  We are also looking for pamphlets, buttons, etc. that we would be able to hand out.  Please let Luke know if you have any access or connections to a supply of LGBT Rights materials.  Thank you!

**3. Chicago Republic Workers Speaking Tour, Thursday 2/12 at 5:30pm Downtown Buffalo**
-**Rides will be provided** Lawyers Guild Members will be carpooling to this event following our meeting.  If you can't make our meeting but want to attend this talk, please meet in the O'Brian Lobby at 5pm sharp!

Sit-In Strikers from Chicago to speak at Public Forum

Re              Chicago Republic workers call for "Resistance and Recovery" to fix economic crisis

Buffalo is one of the stops on a 12 city tour by workers from Chicago's Republic Windows and Doors. The workers will tell the story of how their shop-floor action, combined with nationwide support mobilization, led to victory, including benefits and a plan to reopen the plant.  The workers will encourage others to resist corporate greed and will call for an economic recovery that works for everyone, including collective bargaining, health care, and investment for good green jobs.

Thank you so much for reading!  Seriously, good things will happen to you for reading this e-mail all the way through.  And if no good things occur, please let me know and I will give you whatever loose change is in my pocket at that time, because free money = good thing.
