it makes me wonder why people who know very little about an industry
decide they need to meddle in it. You can see from the number of
people and protest groups which are about people aren't happy about
it, so why rush it though?

Because it not "the real world". It shows they are completely out of
touch when it comes to online type things. Also, they are obviously
holding people like us in contempt.
