Hi All,
So it seems that our plans for a meet-up for the Melbourne Unity users has somehow been spreading on the Australian list, not the Melbourne List. I never noticed, so sorry about that and the late notice for those that aren't aware of it.
When: Thursday night 20th (tomorrow) at 5:30pm
Where: 1000 Pound Bend - City - http://thousandpoundbend.com.au/ - 361 Lt Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
Why: So we can all start to meet up and get this local community talking.
Not sure how many of us are attending, but this is the first official meet up and we welcome all Melbourne based Unity users.
Please help spread the word about this list and this meet up.

Have you guys seen what the LUUG (London Unity User Group) does? Unity also posts about it on the Unity blog:
http://blogs.unity3d.com/ - I've been to a few, they're pretty good.
I would have thought that something along those lines would go down well in Melbourne, what with there being so many users over there. :)

This is only our first meeting and we only have small number subscribed here so far, but I am determined to build the Melbourne group to one of the leading Unity user groups in the world.
We now also have a new Twitter account/feed - @MelbourneUnity - Everyone with a twitter account, please follow and spread the word to everyone else you know to also join here and follow us on twitter.

Sorry again about the late notice guys. My plan is to use tonight (with any who turns up) to help plan the next meet-up.
Wil be plenty of warning next time maybe even with a tad more structure too.

We are hoping to get this level of interaction going with as many of
the user groups as possible. We have a guy, Will Goldstone, who has
been working with the LUUG, hence having direct access to the group
etc.
Just before Unite I got tasked with heading up a plan for the User
groups to work out how best to support you guys and the awesome stuff
you are doing. Its still early days as I have been insanely busy with
events since Unite, but one thing you might be interested in is being
able to upload and share recordings of your groups events like the
LUUG guys are doing?

We have plans to formalise the meet ups and introduce speakers and content beyond just social, but that will start over the next few.
Tonight was just social and we got 12+ attendees at very short notice. So I'm pretty stocked about that :)
