Hi there! I just moved to Melbourne, and I'm interested in getting to
know other users of Unity! I was wondering how many people in the
group are located in Melbourne, and if anyone would be interested in a
small meet-up to compare experiences and notes?

Welcome Alan :-)

This list really doesn't get used as much as it should, and we have yet to organise any type of meet up for any state.... well not via here anyway!

I'm in Melbourne, as are a few others here. Hopefully others will respond and say hello.

Hi Guys,

Yes, I'd definitely be up for a meet up. I've been working in the
real-time 3d arena for a while, mostly for planning and architecture
applications. There's a few examples up on our website.

Cheers,

Well, even if it's only a few people, I think it'd still be neat to
meet up for coffee or something. Would anyone be interested in
meeting up this weekend sometime in the city and compare projects?

Hi Alan,

I'm heading off to Unite in San Fran early next week, so I don't think I will be able to make this weekend (have a 4 month old son and a 3 y/o daughter, so not fair to my wife to spend even more time away from the house).

I am very happy to meet up after I am back though. A weekend is fine, as is the city, unless we can find a suburb better for all attending.

If you do end up meeting up with anyone this weekend, have fun :-)

Hi Alan,

I'm away in Adelaide this weekend. Happy to meet up next week however.

Weekdays tend to work better for me as I'm oftem away on weekends.

Cheers,
Phil

Wow, according to this,

Melbourne has the 5th highest use of Unity, and we're the top English-
speaking city! So clearly, we should get together! How would next
Monday (October 3rd) evening work? Maybe around 5.30pm? Does anyone
have a good suggestion of a place to meet? 1000Lb Bend seems to be a
popular, central place to meet up for people, but I'm an import, so I
don't really know.

Hi Alan,

I get back to Melb from Unite on that Monday so I wont be able make it then. If you want a wrap up from the conference, am happy to give one if you want to push off the meet-up till later in the week or following week.

Cheers :-)

A Unite wrap up would be really cool! Maybe then Wednesday or
Thursday after work?

A video of the Unite wrap up would be great for out of towners. Does
anyone know if Unity do video's of the conference sessions? I found
the keynote but havn't had a chance to search for more.

Yes, many of them should come online over the next few weeks I believe.

Sorry for kinda dropping the ball on this, but I figure I should go
and pick it back up!

Anyone interested in meeting up this Thursday at 1000 Pound Bend in
the CBD at 5.30 pm?

Hey Alan,

I dont think you specifically dropped the ball. I just think everyone is kinda busy.

I can't make it this week, sorry, (sux sometimes having a young family) but would be happy to try to meet up next week.

Next week Thursday, then? 5.30? 1000 Pound Bend? Sound like a plan?

Hey,

Great to see some meetings :)

You could put it on the calendar as you all have edit rights:
http://sites.google.com/site/unity3daustralia/

And perhaps some small wrap-up text in the news for example
http://sites.google.com/site/unity3daustralia/company-blog

Do you know http://doodle.com/ is nice to organise meetings?

I linked our calendar to a doodle account but I am not yet sure all
works correctly :)

Could you try to organise the meeting here :
http://doodle.com/UnityAustralia ?
It should appear afterwards on the calendar shown on our google site.

Cheers

Sweet. I requested a meeting through Doodle, but have yet to add it
to the calendar, so we can hopefully figure out how all that
integrates. I posted an announcement on the 'News' section, and I'll
also post something up on the Unity forums - I mean, apparently we
have the most Unity users here outside of Asia, so hopefully we can
build something great here!

Hey

I had to switch the old calendar with the one that Doodle gave me.
Connecting to the old calendar would have required a paid account :P

About doodle if I am not mistaken to be able to propose dates,
all the participants must be invited by the creator of the meeting then
each set his availabilities.
I don't know if it is possible to *automatically* add all the group
members.
We will see how it goes.
