Last night when I submitted the announcement for the beta1 release to DW, one of the response back was that the logo's light font color will look bad.

"Well, the only problem I have is the logo, which I found here:
http://graphics.unity-linux.org/the-current-logo. Unfortunately, the
text part won't look very nice on a light background. It would be nice
if your graphics team provided an alternative logo with dark text, so
that it stands out clearly even on white backgrounds.

Otherwise everything looks OK and the live CD has just booted up
without any problems :-)"

Are you guys free to whip up a logo that will look better on DW for the next beta release?

Thanks,
Matt

I will try to find some time to whip up a darker text tonight. I will
use a gray tone

Cool, thank you. Just look on the DW homepage now. I think it looks fine, but I can see what he is saying.

Thanks Ruel, it looks perfect. Can you have a look at the one in
distrowatch? They seem to have move the text below the logo.

Ruel,

That looks perfect, but if you can make it just like DW did with the text below, then we don't have to rely on them. I'll send it over as soon as it's ready.

Thanks again,

Matt

Ruel? You got this covered? I whipped up a darker text but, if you
already have a handle on it, I will move along to other items. :-)

A small note on this. While others are thinking in terms of darkening
the text, why not simply put a dark oval background around the logo,
and "force" the colour scheme?

This is a simple/lazy thing which some people do with their logos, to
maintain colour consistency regardless of the placement / surroundings.

A background also presents some interesting possibilities for a drop
shadow, reflection, "button", double-border or other look..
