If we have any Graphic guys that like to use KDE 4, I would appreciate
any artwork.. ie wallpapers graphics etc.. I am working on a branding
package based off of the Suse method of branding. They've done some
pretty cool stuff, I'm just trying to work it into Unity cleanly and
make sure I get rid of any Suse branding. In fact I have rewritten the
spec etc.. already and am just working on tweaking a few things. I
will also have to rebuild kdelibs, base runtime and base workspace so
the branding package won't conflict as it now offers graphics and
configs from all three packages. It's going to be a little tricky at
first but over all it will allow Branches to install Unity KDE 4 rpms
and just repackage one package to cover branding for KDE 4 instead of
patching and modifying all three packages, which can be really time
consuming. Well my point with all of this is this when I post this
package to the Synergy repos for test I want it to be awesome out the
gate, so if you use KDE 4 and have a little time take a look at
/usr/share/apps/desktoptheme/Aya/ or any of the other themes and play
with Unity labeling in the desktop themes and I'll put that in the
branding rpm as an example for other branches to follow. Thanks

Kind regards

Jeremiah, it sounds like you are really doing an awesome job on making branding easy for us. One question though. Do you think we should create a directory in the svn under unity/projects/branding and give people a place to check in/out graphics, config settings etc? This would give the branches a chance to easily re-tarball up the changes and remove or add what that want.

Matt,
Thanks, yes after I get a base package that I am happy with I
am going to post it to SVN, there's a directory structure in place
that separates the config files from the branding specific files, also
included is SysInfo, a theme for Ksplash and a theme for KDM, which I
have named both Unity-Simple. Basically I used the most simple KDM
theme and the most simple KSplash theme I could find and just changed
the backgrounds to the unity default background we're using. I still
have some clean up to do in the source package to remove the lizzard
and a few things to figure out, like where's the creation of
plasma-desktop-appletsrc I'm hoping to get that done today and I'll
upload the package to svn and the source where you suggested.
